Just spent 3 hours crawling around the M25 anti-clockwise between 21 and 10. Looked just as bad the other side.

No obvious cause except sheer weight of traffic.

AVOID for the day I reckon. Read more

I propose a thread for all things motoring related that you have seen in "sales" that may interest others. Or alternatively, if you are looking for a bargain price for something.

I will start off - I am looking for a new pressure washer for about £60 - anyone seen any good ones reduced down? Read more

Best Golf is definitely the Mk2 GTi 8v, I have owned
2, one was a 1984 one I bought on 92,000 miles
and 11 years later, on 201,000 miles (same engine, recon gearbox)
and still running like a dream it was written off in
an accident.
The 1986 year replacement I bought on 150,000 miles for £400,
I sold it to my brother 3 years ago on 185,000
miles, it is now on 235,000 miles and still running well
on the original engine and gearbox! That sort of build/longivety
cannot be beaten...

Wow!! Thats fantastic mileage!! They are a bit too old for me now though!

A spokesman said: "There is potential for several centimetres of snow to occur widely, and in excess of 15cm in a few locations, with Kent and parts of East Anglia most vulnerable to the heavier falls.

"Icy roads will be an additional hazard. Some travel disruption is expected."

He added there was an 80% risk of flakes falling between late on Boxing Day to Wednesday night in South East England; a 70% chance in East Anglia and Lincolnshire; a 50% risk of flakes in the North East.

There was only a 40% chance in the Midlands, Eastern Scotland and central southern England, and a 20% chance in North West England, Wales, and South West England.

The risk across the rest of the UK is less than 20%

Thank you all for your advice.

There are no wires under the seat pan, they are well hidden. However I did notice some connectors hanging free under the dash I could not find a home for them but in the course of removing the steering wheel trim the light went out and so far has stayed out.

So far so good.

Thanks.

I'm an idiot.

Sorry - I glossed over the reply from Blue and assumed he'd have said the Toyota which would have made my reply fit in a lot better.

As it is, it doesn't. So just ignore it.

Sorry.

Seasons Greetings to all. I have a Fiat Panda, on which several of the black plastic external pieces have turned a grey colour, where they are exposed to the elements. Can anyone please advise what causes this and what can be done to prevent/cure it?

When washing the car, the water makes the parts go black but as soon as the water dries off, they are back to grey. I assume that this is down to the type of plastic used, to age and to exposure to sunlight, as the areas of the parts not exposed, have retained the original black colour.

I am aware of Back to Black and other products but these only disguise the problem for short periods. I seek to establish what causes this problem and how to prevent it occuring in the first place.

Thank you, petel

Thank you all for your replies, the input is much appreciated. Special thanks to you "Oldman" for the trade tip, which I will try at the first opportunity. I now learn, that some of these plastics are classed as "UV stable" and others are not. The search continues.
Thanks again to all. petel

My 1992 Escort diesel van recently incurred a problem with the nearside driveshaft coming out of its coupling, the three pronged part where it joins the shaft that fits into the gearbox.

My friend fitted another one, but the same thing happened after I drove in circa half a mile. He says that there is relatively little play in the lower ball joint on the wishbone and the van doesn't appear to be toeing in or out.

Can anyone suggest anything else that may be causing the problem, ie, could it be the gearbox, etc? thanks. Read more
