Do those liquid diesel injector cleaners actually work effectively?

I have always switched on or off to side-light when I enter a tunnel both during day-time and night-time. Is this a good practice? (I have been doing so since I passed my test back in 98) My theory is that I sometimes get glare if on-coming traffic used dipped headlight, especially if the road is wet.
The tunnel I used all the time are Limehouse link, M25 between A1(M) and M11, crossing River Thames, etc.

Since people run around with rear fogs on, weeks after the last murky weather, expecting them to switch dip off for the tunnel is a bit optimistic. The Mersey tunnel gets very reflective in the wet, as the rainwater dripping from vehicles goes downhill to the lowest point, and you get a shiny tube effect.
Happy Xmas
Come on guys (and girls!), so many of you don't have a viewable profile. I understand the need to avoid divulging any information that could be misused, but it would be nice to have a little bit of background information to help conjure up a better picture of each oher, wouldn't it? :-) Read more
Exactly!
I guess if your address is a hotmail address it makes it a bit easier to leave it lying around in public places - but if not, then it's as well to be careful.
Banger I would imagine, over time, there will be people that you maybe want to talk in greater depth about something with here, or even to talk about something completely off-topic. That's when it can be good to email.
Not trying to discourage people from putting email addies in their profiles, at all, and like I said I think probably hotmail/yahoo kind of addresses are safe. The one I use happens not to be one of these, and therefore I am a little wary of who gets to know it - only a very select few will ever know it ;)

You lucky thing! The cheapest that I've seen is 71.7 in both Reading and Coventry (I travel about a lot...). Our local garages along the A4 between Maidenhead & Reading are 73.9/74.9. There must be too many fully expensed company cars living locally...

Hi Trevor,
Did the full stage 3 with John yesterday including Millbrook - have you any suggestions on cleaning leather passenger seats?
He took my X to 130 on the big circle (changed from 4 to 5 at 110 on my automatic box) and took hands off the wheel - I chickened out at around 115 when it was my turn.
My track session was not impressive - I could not get the right hand apex correct at three feet past the third marker - having a very patient test driver lapping me did not help.
The circular track was closed for a special event - noticed the Queens new Bentley parked nearby - are the Royals finally going round the bend?
Thought I would post this as I learned about HPC from you - all the best for the season to you and all who read this on the HJ site.

Matt -
Enjoy?
John is a BIT good - not just as a driver, but as an instructor, yes?
The late apex idea is not easy to make yourself do - after years of constant radius practice.
All the best to you.
Does anyone know if it is possible to install one of these units in my Laguna which of course has a dash display and remote controls for channel changing and audio volume or is it a case of what was fitted has to remain.

I suspect the answer is likely to be no. With the increasing number of manufacturers fitting ICE that is unique to the vehicle (i.e. remote displays, remote controls, non-standard sizes, completely integrated into the dashboard etc), aftermarket manufacturers aren't going to be able to make models to suit every car on the market.
However, I'd suggest giving the guys at www.incardiscount.co.uk/ a bell.

Why is it that as soon as the outside temperature falls below my comfortable working threshold that things automotive start to go wrong?
SWMBO's car yesterday decided to develop a mis-fire which resulted in the EMU deciding it wouldn't allow her to re-start after stalling with the choke on, obviously deciding that it was better for her to be stranded in the middle of an 'iffy' junction for 20 minutes rather than letting her risk damaging the 'cat' with an over-rich mixture. So a happy weekend beckons trying to find said mis-fire.
But, baby, it's cold out there, so tonight the battery has given up the ghost, totally without warning, of course, so she went to work in my car, guess where my tools are? Yes, in the back of my car outside her office!
I now have the battery on charge having spent the best part of an hour 'persuading' it from under the bonnet with what odds and ends of tools I could find and, obviously, some expletives aimed in the right direction.
While removing the battery I noticed that the front o/s tyre was a bit low, mentioned this during a phone call to SWMBO to tell her that I'd finally got the battery off,'Oh yes, I forgot to mention, I think I've got a slow puncture, it's been going down a bit everyday for a week or so...'
Why doesn't any of this ever happen in the nice warm summer with nice light evenings when it would be almost a pleasure to be out there tinkering away????

There's an associated law, called "Miller's Law" and I think it was published in an aeromodelling magazine a few years ago. The law states that no simple job ever is - simple, that is.
The example cited at the time was the task to fix a leaking washer in the cold water cistern in the loft.
You buy a washer and find it's the wrong type, so you plan to repalce the ball valve with a more modern one...so
You go to turn off the cold water and the tap is jammed...so
You try to turn off the main cock in the street instead, but you don't have a key...so
You go and buy one, turn off the water and remove the offending ball cock and buy a new one. The new one is a different pipe fitting...so
You go and buy another pipe fitting...
...and so it goes on. We've all been there, haven't we. Not necessarily with ball cocks, but certainly with cars.
;-)

Hello and festive greetings.

HJ carried a recent feature on the KIA Carens Mini MPV. There have also been odd bits and pieces about the Picasso in the backroom.
You can buy a UK supplied diesel HDI SX Picaso from Carfile for about £11,000. You can pay about the same for a similar spec. Diesel Kia, but £11,000 is the list price. Which one would you buy? And why. Both cheap when compared to pretty well all the others. Which will be worth more in 3 years time. Which would you sooner drive? Trouble with the Kia might be the absence of dealers? Having said that, my nearest Citroen dealer isn't exactly local.

It's not petrol as in unleaded, it's Kerosene. This is the US term for paraffin.
