Happened to spot a website called "buysuzukidirect.co.uk" and saw new UK supplied vehicles with usual 3 yr warranty and 6 months tax as follows........Wagon R+ @£6495 , Jimny @£7695 and the 7 seat XL7 with the 2.7 V6 @£14995 (£4000 off ,list). All the other models are listed at discount prices too.
Given that they're UK spec and being Suzuki's, not too likely to go wrong, this doesn't seem bad to me.
Shame about Citroen prices going up - I thought the trend was down?

I wonder if anyone could suggest a cause for a frustrating long term problem with starting my Mk 1 1998 Punto 60SX?
50% of the time the car starts first time
25% of the time it will start on the second attempt but
25% of the time it requires muliple attempts (5 or 6) to get the engine running.
Once the engines fires it runs perfectly
The problem can occur whether the engine is hot or cold and appears to be independent of weather conditions or dampness.
I don't touch the accelerator pedal before the engine fires and the car has recently had a new battery and it passed its MOT a few months ago when the spark plugs were replaced

There is an immoboliser in the car which responds to a widget in the key. If one of the lights in the dash (I thought it was a injector sort of thing) goes out, then you are ok and everything is working, you should be able to start the key no problem. If it stays on for longer than a couple of seconds then the widget in the key may be damaged.
I had a similar problem which eventually resulted in a complete breakdown of the car (the lights and starter motor etc still work but it wont fire). A new key cured the problem (you could try using the red one).
How much to repair the following - dealer and/or otherwise?
Toyota Avensis 2000X New Shape.
Passenger Side mirror totally wrecked whilst parked up in a car park. No casing or anything left to salvage (just the remnants of the mirror!!). Great start to Christmas by some inconsiderate so-and-so.
The car is undamaged otherwise, ie the bit that is stuck to the car is OK, the plastic bit that swivels in and out has just, effectively, gone! (sorry for no technical part name!!).
They are electric powered and I think heated, since the little glass that remained had an element going through it.
Price advice assuming Oop t'North.
Is £100 - £150 a low guesstimate?
Thanks. Read more
Wow, i'm glad my mirrors aren't electric, £35 and half an hour supply and fit for non colour-coded, non-original, (but compatible) part from local little independent garage.
Does anyone happen to know the most popular brand of Japanese car in France? Read more
If the average French mechanic/workshop can service/repair all those dreadful French sheds then when he gets the oportunity to work on a Toyota or Nissan he will think he has died and gone to heaven. As to parts,no problem,or source direct from the UK and have them DHL or FedEX next day.
Hi Chaps/Chapesses, my brother's 850T5's r/c key fob is playing up. Is it a case of change the battery (there's no obvious way of opening the unit) or something more complicated ?
BTW the only markings on it are:
Metra System V - M100RC.
Any thoughts anyone? Read more
Many, many thanks KW - I'll pass the message on.
My brother's not good at stuff like this but I'm sure he'll be able to manage that. Cheers & have a good 'un !!
I have a G-reg Scorpio with a tempremental speedo - quite a common fault on these, I believe.
It only works about one trip in three, and then the needle often moves as if it is in syrup. The mileometer appears to work normally at all times.
Has anyone ever revived one of these, or is a trip to the breakers* looming?
*for a speedo, not the car (yet)! Read more
I had a similar problem on my 1992 BMW about a year ago when wear in the bush allowed the spindle to pull over a few degrees and jam. Being an automatic, I couldn't use the tachometer to tell me how fast I was going and I was risking being caught speeding.
I revived the speedo two or three times but the fault kept reappearing so I bought a new one for about £100, not much more than the fine I would have received for speeding.
bought new silver C3, nice car to drive but citroen must have run out of paint, brown undercoat in engine compartment and on
underside of bonnet, looks like it has been repaired after an accident, this is what someone would think looking at it.
dealer told me all C3s are like it, do anyone know if this
is correct?. Read more
It's all about cutting costs, Ford are good at this also, but at lest you're not getting the occasional engine stall?

Could be plastic - Citroen use it more than most...
It only happens during the winter. Sparrows perch on either the wing mirrors or the sides of the windows to look at their reflection, this must excite the little birds so much they CR-P at an alarming rate. Any RSPCA friendly solutions out there.

How about coating the wing mirrors with tar so the birds are stuck there.
That way, when you get back they will still be there and you can politely ask them not to be so naughty again :-)
Only joking, in case someone takes me seriously!
One solution they use on marine craft is to stick reflective strips on the rigging. This supposedly scares off the Seagulls. You could try a removable fluttering strip from the arial or the mirrors themselves. Suggest you remove these before you drive though.
Another idea is to stick foil tape to the backs and tops of the mirror casings, so that they may think another bird is coming towards them when they swoop down, thus making them fly away.
I've just bought a new Polo and was offered Diamond Brite int/ext protection by the dealer for £235. I didn't want to pay this but subsequently read that it's a good thing and works well, also reading that a d.i.y. kit's available.
Does any-one know from where, please? Many thanks.

With baby number 4 on the way, I am in need of a car that will last for 10yrs 'child growth' (my oldest is 6 now and I want a car until she is 16). Not taken my MPV's as I like to go off road, I set about test driving many 4x4's than can according to the book's 'seat 7 people'. By the end of this task I can state that the XL-7 is the only one that can truly claim to have real seats in row 3. All the others with there fold down chairs i.e. Land Rover Discovery etc. should have disclaimers that state that these 'seats' can only sit children up to 6yrs old and with normal leg sizes. Once past that age/size, they are of no use due to the lack of leg room. The XL-7 however has what I would regard as 'foot wells'. This is the only car in which, as an adult, I am able to sit in both rows 2 and 3 with comfort. At no point did I have to 'scrunch' my legs up or bend my head. This is the main reason I will be investing my money in this car.
