Bird C--P - richard price

It only happens during the winter. Sparrows perch on either the wing mirrors or the sides of the windows to look at their reflection, this must excite the little birds so much they CR-P at an alarming rate. Any RSPCA friendly solutions out there.

try Vaseline on the mirrors: they'll slide off. Once they have learnt that, they should give up...

PU you beat me to it. Talking over this problem with a Gamekeeper this lunch time he suggested a Hawk. If you go to your local Reference Library they should have a bird book from which photocopy to life size the outline of a Sparrowhawk. Transpose onto stiff card or hardboard and cut out. Hang a couple adjacent to your vehicle which should act as a deterrent.

You could try folding the door mirrors inwards when you park up.

How about coating the wing mirrors with tar so the birds are stuck there.

That way, when you get back they will still be there and you can politely ask them not to be so naughty again :-)

Only joking, in case someone takes me seriously!

One solution they use on marine craft is to stick reflective strips on the rigging. This supposedly scares off the Seagulls. You could try a removable fluttering strip from the arial or the mirrors themselves. Suggest you remove these before you drive though.

Another idea is to stick foil tape to the backs and tops of the mirror casings, so that they may think another bird is coming towards them when they swoop down, thus making them fly away.
