Do those liquid diesel injector cleaners actually work effectively?
Which one is the best?

I use Forte products. Usually 1 bottle into the filter and one into the tank. Professional use only, ask around at local main dealers/workshops around £10 per bottle. Other good products are ACP and Protec.

Forte is what ATS offer when your diesel fails the MoT on emissions. If it means avoiding coming back for a re-test I suppose it might be worth a tenner, but there are several other brands available at accessory shops at nearer a fiver, and I have definitely noticed an improvement after a few shots of Nitrox - the turbo seemed to come back. Don't think it affects fuel consumption much, though.

Petrol injection cleaner (Redex) is 80% paraffin, 18% ethanol and 2% auto gearbox oil. Diesel injection cleaner is probably the same, or similar.

I think HJ will tell us that diesel and petrol cleaners are not the same. I believe the diesel stuff has a good deal of detergent. Petrol does not tend to gum the injectors like diesel.

Was "Miller's Diesel Power" recommended by HJ on this site some time back? Maybe worth checking the archives..

In reallity injection cleaner is just petrol add half a pint to a full tank of diesel and it will clean your injectors perfectly

It's not petrol as in unleaded, it's Kerosene. This is the US term for paraffin.
