Does anyone know if it is possible to install one of these units in my Laguna which of course has a dash display and remote controls for channel changing and audio volume or is it a case of what was fitted has to remain.

As ever, the answer's the same on this one. Third time I've answered this so perhaps it's time it was added to the FAQ.
You can get an adaptor from Halford's for Sony stereos, including the xplod MP30 (it's not a retired police officer though) which lets you use them with Renault (and some other) remote controls. Renault is just particularly good at fitting remote control stereos, including my 13 year old R19.
You'll also need a dash bezel and perhaps a wiring harness or aerial adapter; ask in Halfords as I don't know the answer off the top of my head. You can also get the MP30 in Halfords, but it's much, much cheaper (by about £80, down to £160ish) from www.empiredirect.co.uk
Hope this helps.

I think Bernie wants to know if it is possible to get a stereo which is compatable with the display on the Laguna. I think it is highly unlikely. I have recently bought a citroen xsara with a multifunction display not unlike the laguna. It has a tape deck(what are they for??) and a boot autochanger. I want to change the whole system but still keep remotes, still use the multifunction screen and be able to play MP3.
Is there a car audio expert or anyone who can help?

Volcane,
Thats exactly what I want, come on guys, somebody must know !

I suspect the answer is likely to be no. With the increasing number of manufacturers fitting ICE that is unique to the vehicle (i.e. remote displays, remote controls, non-standard sizes, completely integrated into the dashboard etc), aftermarket manufacturers aren't going to be able to make models to suit every car on the market.
However, I'd suggest giving the guys at www.incardiscount.co.uk/ a bell.
