The charge is for admin. by the dealer and can be as much as £75.00. In most cases the warranty will start from the date the vehicle first entered the country of origin(must be a country within th EU, No warranty on vehicles from Japan)and if it is from cypres it looses its anti-corrosion warranty. We have registered some cars which have lost upto 12 months of their warranty.
I am a mere road user and do not claim any expertise in road planning or traffic flow control, but the thinking behind roundabouts where each entrance/exit is controlled by a separate set of traffic lights does puzzle me. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
We have an example here in the city of roundabouts (Milton Keynes of course) that has recently been converted to such an arrangement (at some significant expense and disruption). It ?governs? a junction between a number of dual track carriageways. I use this roundabout a lot, but have not noticed any significant improvement in traffic flow at peak times. However, it does now scare the s*** out of me on occasions. This is when traffic is stopped on the roundabout by one set of lights and tails back to partially block the previous exit, causing traffic for this two lane exit to converge into one lane. I don?t know if there have been any serious incidents here, but I have witnessed quite a few near misses. This is perhaps exacerbated by the perceived need for MK citizenry to negotiate all roundabouts at as a high a speed as possible, merging with crossing traffic as if training for a motorcycle display team.

There are a couple of instances where traffic light on roundabouts DO help. These are where the roundabout is too small to provide a decent separation between the entrance/exit roads, and where there is a preponderence of traffic on one axis which does not leave enough gaps for the traffic on another axis to enter the roundabout.
The Essex example which I am most familiar with is the Army and Navy at Chelmsford, a small roundabout where traffic on one road joining (Baddow Road, could not do so for lack of gaps in the traffic already on the roundabout.
Traffic lights have been added and exit from Baddow Road is now easier, but the lights are on all five roads joining, whereas a better result could have ben obtained with lights on only the two entrances before Baddow Road, thus avoiding the roundabout clogging at the multiple lights.
The gaps between the lights, due to the small size of the roundabout, are too short to move safely across to the appropriate lane, too!
Quickish question -
We hardly ever park in our (double) garage. Next door neighbour has a collection of classic sports cars - some kept on the driveway, others in a storage place 45 min drive away. They are planning to double the size of their double garage.
Being neighbourly (and good friends with them) I was going to suggest that during the building work, they keep a couple of the cars in our garage. Could this be more hassle than it's worth insurance wise? Is it their car insurance that would cover their cars or could there be a claim on our house insurance in the event of any loss/damage?
(by the way both our vehicles are company owned/insured and we don't claim to keep them garaged)
Any thoughts? Can't bear to be on hold for days with the house insurers to ask them. Decided to ask here first! Read more
I stay well clear if I were you. If anything goes wrong even the slightest mishap, you may find your friendly neighbour take on a different stance. He may have his cars insured but if it is a tin of paint that accidentallygets knocked of your shelf onto his car, I expect he will claim on your insurance.
There's justtoo many unpredictables here imho.
Hello all,
I have a GT TDi PD (115PS) at 40,000 mls on which I changed the Timing Belt last weekend (with a little difficulty).
When I re-fitted the noise shield under tray, there was interference with the underside of the transmission casing, causing the tray to bow out from its mounting flange.
Looking at the front of the vehicle, with bonnet up, it is apparent that the cam cover slopes downwards to the nearside. This is more so than previously, according to my memory.
Also I am convinced I have more harshness when driving the vehicle although this is of course very subjective.
During the above belt change I had to raise, and lower the engine significantly in order to try to remove the off-side engine mounting bracket (which is attached to the end of the cylinder block). This raising and lowering was repeated many times. I kept a check on all pipes, shafts, etc to ensure they were not under strain, but could not see the nearside mount.
My question is: Could I have distorted the nearside mount, and would it be possible to get this sag?
Weather permitting I'm going to have a look at it this weekend, but would appreciate some pointers. Thanks in anticipation.

The Lexus LS400 is a very nice car and I would like one but scanning through autotrader the cheapest examples are around £4,000 and for that you get a 10 year old car with 130k ish on the clock.
Good but way overpriced in the current market would you not agree? Read more

Hi, HJ, Mark, and everyone else - I\'m sorry to ask a question that is totally unrelated to motoring - and I understand completely if it is wiped off immediately.
Just wanted to know if anyone knows of a similar site to this, only related to legal matters (non-car), I know I won\'t get a site quite like this one but I seriously need to talk to someone about something law-related and very complicated and very urgent.
Again, my apologies for posting this here, I AM desperate and I hope you\'ll forgive me.
Sorry.

the interior light on my fiat ulysse stopped working and on inspection it appeared that the overhead switch had overheated and partly melted losing the connection. Off I go to the Fiat dealer to get a new 1cm switch and surprise, one has to buy the whole planel, £65 sir!! The parts chap knew the price straight away as he had just ordered one in for another Ulysse...hmm.
Does anyone know if this is a common fault and when I get the new switch fitted if I replace the 6w bulbs with a lower wattage will the system run 'cooler'?
thanks Read more
I don't know about that particular make, but interior lights are often 1. made of plastic
2. suffer from inadequate ventilation
In my experience, interior light are VERY prone to overheating and I tend to keep them on for as short a time as possible.
I have recently bought a 1996 (N) Laguna 2.0RT and since having it, I have only used it during daylight hours. Recently however, with the nights becoming darker, I have had to use the lights and I have noticed that all the instrument panel lights up with the exception of the heating / air conditioning knobs.
Forgive me for being thick, but surely these should light up also?
I would appreciate anyone with the same car or knowledge to answer this one for me.
I don't think it is an outed fuse as the heated rear screen and A/C buttons are just above it and they illuminate properly.
I cannot believe that the car has been designed like this.

Exactly the same thing has happened to my wife's N reg Laguna. How did you fix it? I've changed the fuses, no help. Do I have to take out the whole dash to replace the bulbs?

Fantastic looking car, getting rave reviews by used car buyers in the know.
See recent (Sept?)Used car buyer magazine for things to look out for.
Post 99 V6 gives superior torque but loses a bit on the 0-60.
Inside isn't anything to write home about, but still, for posing about it is the outside that matters.
