I have recently bought a 1996 (N) Laguna 2.0RT and since having it, I have only used it during daylight hours. Recently however, with the nights becoming darker, I have had to use the lights and I have noticed that all the instrument panel lights up with the exception of the heating / air conditioning knobs.
Forgive me for being thick, but surely these should light up also?
I would appreciate anyone with the same car or knowledge to answer this one for me.
I don't think it is an outed fuse as the heated rear screen and A/C buttons are just above it and they illuminate properly.
I cannot believe that the car has been designed like this.

If it's anything like my '89 R19, and it is - I have exactly the same problem - the bulbs behind the switches have most likely gone. If it is the bulbs, you may need to get the whole dash out.
It could be a fuse though as I think the heating controls are all on one fuse for themselves - there are about 30-odd in the 19. Get a Haynes manual and it'll help you diagnose the problem - they do pay for themselves because they let you know what's going on.

I have a Laguna and the same happened to me. There is a dimmer for the dashboard panel. This is located below and to the left of the steering column. I have noticed that sometimes you can move the wheel with your leg when changing gear for example. I bet that's what it is. Give it a try.

Exactly the same thing has happened to my wife's N reg Laguna. How did you fix it? I've changed the fuses, no help. Do I have to take out the whole dash to replace the bulbs?
