  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Suspension bushes 23 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Would appreciate if you could advise what I should be looking for (as a driver - not a mechanic) to detect any further deterioration and how much the job should cost to put things right when the time comes. I seem to reacall HJ advising that Ford have a tool for this job which considerably reduces the cost/time.
  • Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - Replacing a horn 25 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Hi guys The horn has packed up on my 1999 Ford Ka. It still works, but it's about 1/10th of it's volume and sounds like someone is letting air out of a balloon! I'm guessing it's a pretty easy job to swap one out and one in, and could probably get a spare from a scrappy.
  • Ford Focus - New dash 12 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hi guys. I'm new to the forum. Just bought myself a 2000 (W) Ford Focus 1.8l petrol Ghia. I'm thinking of upgrading the dash (cheaply) with something like this:- http://tinyurl.com/2u2pxv {Link to an item on ebay shortened to restore page width back to normal - DD} Anybody have any idea how difficult it would be to fit?
  • Rear wiper blade replacement 18 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The following may be of interest to owners of other makes not just Ford. I have just been through the process of replacing the rear wiper blade on a 2000 Focus I did not get a Ford replacement but a Bosch. It fitted OK but would only track the windscreen for half of its length for the whole of the arc of its range.
  • Ford Focus engines 7 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Any views - good or bad - on Ford Focus four cylinder duratec engines - 1.8 and 2.0 ? The 1.8 produces 125bhp and the 2.0 just 20 more. Is it worth the extra initial cost of the 2 litre, and extra insurance etc, and will I notice any difference in performance.
  • Ford friendly independant Woking area? 3 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Today, a couple of months later, the light is back on but no apparent misfiring or poor running this time. In fear of the car developing large bills at a Ford main agent, can anyone recommend an independant local to Woking/Weybridge that would be able to plug in and diagnose the reason for the light again or are we better off going back to DM?

  • Ford 6006e Q's 12 Aug 2006 (Forum)
As per attached thread in discussion ....... http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?f=2&t=43897 ......... I have a problem with my Ford 6006e unit, it loads and plays one CD however when I go to load a second CD it does not always recognise that it is there and sometimes makes strange whiring sounds, on occasions this is sorted by pushing "Load" again, where it finds the CD, or "Eject" and the CD is returned though twice now I have had the top off the unit to retrieve a CD.
  • Ford Zetec engines: oil 7 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It is clear from all sorts of sources that the correct oil for Ford Zetec engines is 5W-30. To quote from another thread, "The wrong grade of oil in Zetec engines will cause the tappets to stick." Do I take it that the key to this is the 5W and not the 30, so that flow is easier when the engine is cold?
  • ford 6000 external audio input 7 May 2006 (Forum)
Is is possible to plug a portable music player into a Ford 6000 Radio/CD ? The unit is marked as being "CD changer compatible". I take it therefore, that this unit is capable of taking input from an external audio source. I know there's those FM transmitter things, but I was thinking of a simple lead from the back of the unit, ending in a standard 3.5mm audio plug.

  • Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 96 2.0 Rear Center Inertia Reel Seatbelt 21 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Hi I've just bought a 1996 (P) Ford Mondeo 2.0 Ghia X. The center rear inertia reel seatbelt is jammed. Apparently there is a mechanism which locks the reel so you can't use the seatbelt if the folding seatback is not fully locked home (the inertia reel is inside the seat).
  • Sump plug washer size - Ford HCS engine 18 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Now without actually taking the oil plug off first, does anyone know the size of the nylon washer? I'd normally go to my Ford dealer for filter and washer, but I've already got a filter so it's not worth a seperate trip. When I asked in Halfords last time they said I needed to know the size of the washer because their computer apparantly couldn't tell me.
  • Help drivers door jammed on Ford Escort 7 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Can someone please help, the drivers door lock is broken inside on our 1991 J reg Ford Escort Ghia, my husband cannot get to it as he cannot open the door to get the door panel off. Police have now threatened us that the driver of the vehicle must not crawl over to get out of passenger door - hence it's off the road which is causing huge problems as my husband starts work at 06.00 and has a 3/4 hour drive.

  • ford fiesta 9 Dec 2004 (Forum)
just spent a weekend in a hired new top of range ford fiesta, to say I am staggered would be to put it mildly pedals that are SOOOOOOOO far from the floor, come on proper pedal spacing doesn't cost anything speakers that are so tinny, come on decent pioneer speakers are so cheap, why bother putting this rubbish in stereo straight from the Alan Sugar school of design terrible gear change, like driving a bus seats hurt didn't feel secure on the road truly a victory of marketing over car quality, I am appalled that they think these things are acceptable
  • USA ford focus 21 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I just bought a used 2001 ford focus hatchback here in Arizona. It seems to be a nice car with nice handling etc. However, I'm really disappointed with the performance. Given that its a 2.0 zetec which supposedly makes 130bhp, and has a manual gearbox, i would expect it to have a little poke.
  • Ford - 'Model Year' 19 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I notice that new Fords are often advertised as 2004.25 or 2004.5 etc 'Model Year'. A dealer told me that the cars are the same - it's more related to the special offers that are available. However, I would have thought it was the other way around - ie special offers on the older cars.
  • gear problem ford galaxy 15 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Hi Can anyone shed any light on a problem I am having with my Galaxy. The car is a Ford Galaxy 2.3GLX auto 1998. Sometimes when I start it, I can not select any gears and the break lights do not work. After a while it selects the gear and the lights work fine. If I start the car with the gear selector switch pressed in I can select the gears but the lights still do not work.
  • Ford Fiesta. Speedo & Rev Counter probs. 13 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Easing up on the throttle or allowing the engine to catch up brings the rev counter and speedometer instantly back to normal. The car has now done over 80K with this fault but the local Ford dealer has no ideas. The problem annoys harder driving daughter who now has the car. Any ideas??
