Vauxhall recalls more Adam and Corsa models 7 Oct 2014 (News)
As with the original recall, these cars could have been manufactured with a steering system part that did not meet specification. As a result Vauxhall is warning owners not to drive their vehicles prior to an inspection. Vauxhall says it first became aware of the issue during routine quality controls at the vehicle production plant, although it says no accidents or injuries related to the problem have been reported. -

'As new' MG Midget on offer at Anglia Auctions 1 May 2014 (News)
The vendor brought the car brand new after hearing of the imminent demise of MG but never registered the vehicle as he intended to give the car to one of his young children on passing their driving test. The car, in Vermillion Red, remains unregistered but is complete with the original bill of sale, owner’s handbooks, and service manuals. Fatal accident claims Emma Wilkinson on the Peking to Paris 12 Jun 2013 (News)

The Tyumen region police reported that the incident was a head-on crash between the British driver’s Chevrolet and a Volkswagen Polo. BMW to manufacturer engines for i8 sports car in the UK 12 Jun 2012 (News)
The i8 will use a three-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that's combined with an electric drive system to produce 349hp/300Nm. Its 0-62mph time is said to be under five seconds, combined with the fuel consumption of under approximately 78mpg. The all-electric mode has a reported electric range of approximately 20 miles. Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “BMW’s decision to produce engines for their i8 plug-in hybrid sports car at Hams Hall is more good news for the UK automotive sector and underlines its growing competitive strength. -

New battery tech to improve EV range 22 Sep 2011 (News)
EVs can only usually travel around 100 miles before they run out of juice, and charging them is a long-winded process when you find a place to do it. But as with all technology, there’s a constant drive for improvement and a consortium led by advanced battery manufacturer Axeon has developed a new type of battery that goes some way towards removing the limitations associated with pure EVs. The project, part funded by the Technology Strategy Board, aimed to develop a high density battery specifically for zero-emissions vehicles. -
