  Could I tempt you with this 53k mile 97P MGF VVC, sold for just £1,300? Maybe a rather leggy but clean 119k mile 98S BMW Z3 1.9, sold for £4,200? Or possibly the cheapest 88k mile 97P Mercedes SLK230K auto I’ve ever seen at £6,200? Fleet owners holding Porsche 911s were trying to buck this trend, some more successfully than others.

  Auction Report Double Bill – eBay 8th May 2005 11 May 2005 (News)
  Over £2,000 On Bank Holiday Monday (2nd May) two very well cared for and desirable cars passed through the eBay auction. The BMW 325Ci has now taken a bit of a back seat in the motoring press compared to its infinitely capable brethren. Autocar recently had a 330Cd on test and liked it immensely, and, judging by the number of them on the road the public have also taken them to their hearts.

  680HP Jaguar XJ220 S Spec in Historics May 20th Ascot Auction 30 Apr 2017 (News)
  These include a 1997 Jaguar XJ220 S Spec, two Ferrari 599GTBs, a 1933 Lagonda 3 litre tourer, a 1995 Chrysler Viper Venom, a rare ‘barn find’ 1972 BMW CSL for restoration, a 1961 Cadillac Eldorado convertible and a rather nice 1993 Mercedes Benz W124 320E convertible. Historics XJ220 isn’t just any old XJ220. It has been converted to S Spec by Don Law Racing, has a modified fuel system and has been dyno tested to over 680HP.

BMW Z1 - £29,995 Just 8,000 Z1s were made by BMW in the late 1980s and almost all of them were sold in the German market, so finding one for sale in the UK is difficult at best, and if the exceptionally low mileage figure of 8900 is accurate on this listing it’s likely to be one of the neatest examples around. 170 horsepower comes from a 2.5-litre straight-six, so performance is brisk and matches the outstanding looks.

  Huge Expansion in Live Online Auctions 4 Mar 2009 (News)
  In a number of sales this year, BCA has had more buyers online than in the auction hall, notably a recent BMW Open auction where 300 hall bidders were joined by 308 Live Online bidders, more than doubling the buying power. In total 2,991 individual buyers purchased online in January. Vendor customers regularly using Live Online include manufacturers such as Ford, BMW, Vauxhall, Citroen, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen, alongside LeasePlan, ING, Lex and Motability from the fleet & lease sector.

  The Alfa Romeo GTV (’96-’03) is the least-reliable car in the survey overall, while BMW is the only German brand to squeeze into the manufacturer top 10, in 10th place. Steve Fowler, What Car? editor, said: ‘The annual reliability study is a thorough and helpful guide that provides important data for buyers of new and used cars.

  The 27k mile 2001/51 Bentley Arnage T in the preview bid to £73,000, a 39k mile 2000W CL500 with DVD TV for the kids in the back sold for £22,800, a 38k mile 2001X CL55 AMG bid to £29,000, the 3k mile 05 reg Nissan 350Z GT Roadster from the preview bid to £23,000, an 12k mile 04 reg BMW 645CI convertible was £3k under trade book at a top bid of £42,400 (I actually tried to place that car but my buyer wanted a coupe), and a rare and unbooked 57k mile 2002/51 facelift BMW Alpina B3 3.3 sold for £17,400.

  Some cars were still big money today, but this 2,248 mile 04 reg Crossfire manual, just 14 months old, was a fair buy at £16,200. A 59k mile 2002/51 BMW X5 3.0i auto with leather but not a Sport was sensible at £18,000. Low provisional bids included £17,100 for a 65k mile 2002/52 Mercedes E270 CDI Elegance and £14,950 for a 79k mile 2000W Mercedes S320 LWB.

  A 43k unwarranted 2001Y Honda S2000 sold for £17,950; a 14k mile 2001/51 Freelander V6ES sold for £12,675; a 58k mile 2000X BMW 523iSE manual sold for £10,950 and even a 90k mile 99T Jaguar S Type 3.0V6SE auto made £9,250. And there’s always something if I had the time and space. Today it would have been a 92k mile 95M Mercedes W124 E200 auto, sold for £3,000.

  Big Premiums Stall at Top Car Today 11 Nov 2002 (News)
  Star of BCA’s Top Car sale at Blackbushe today was undoubtedly a brand new 52 reg BMW M3. Not just any old M3, but a convertible, with a hard top, satnav and the SMG box. It was top of the list in BCA’s own Top Car advertisement. They’re supposed to be hard to get. There has been a £5k premium.

  But he got it for £2,175, which compared very well with the £3,000 to £3,500 all the other Ts and Vs were going for. A 91,000 mile E46 BMW 318CI coupe started really low at £8,000, then quickly jumped in £1,000 bids to £10,000 before selling for £10,900. But best buy of the day was probably a 108,000 mile 99S BMW 530D SE auto that went for £11,650.

  BCA's Classic Sale yesterday proved well worth going to, especially if you'd spotted the ad in Saturday's Telegraph which entitled you to a free catalogue and entry for two. And there were some unusual cars, such as the well-used 1957 BMW 502 V8 in the photo. This one bore all the signs of having been stored in the open, including green moss and massive rust bubbles in the front wings. But it wasn't just a runner, it was a daily driver and the engine started with a nice V8 burble.

  The bargain basement included an 82,000 mile 97R Escort 1.6LX sold for £2,250, a 111,000 mile 97R Astra 1.7LSTD sold for £2,025, a 70,000 mile 97R Mondeo Si V6 bid to £2,775, a 122,000 mile 97P Audi A4 1.6SE sold for £3,300, a 97,000 mile 97R Peugeot 406 1.8LX bid to £1,950, an 89,000 mile 97R Merc C200 Elegance auto bid to £7,700, a 118,000 mile 99S Merc C200 Classic manual with a/c sold for £6,500, a 67,000 mile 97R MGF VVC sold for £6,900, a 96,000 mile 98R BMW 528iSE bid to £7,675 and the 98,000 mile 98R BMW 318Ti Compact automatic with s/r and a/c previously seen last week which finally sold for £5,600. But the sensible mileage stuff was on fire.

  As a long winter looms, the market goes hard-headed about soft-tops, which explains a top bid of just £17,500 for a 92,000 mile 98R BMW M3 convertible with the sequential paddle shift (£46,000 new). An 86,000 mile 98R SAAB 900i 2.0SE Turbo convertible couldn't raise more than £8,700. But the surprise of the day had to be a 99T Toyota Yaris, the first I've seen at auction.
