With manual, automatic and hatchback variants available, the 308 has added eight vehicles to its line-up and building on its success after being handed the German Golden Steering Wheel by newspaper Bild am Sonntag. "The 308 was chosen as the best compact family car and came first in nine of the 15 judgement criteria ... the judging panel also paid special tribute to the quality of the Peugeot 308," the company commented. Peugeot unveiled the 308 as the successor to the 307 on June 5th 2007. -

Chevrolet exhibits fuel cell vehicle 13 Mar 2008 (News)
The Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell was exhibited by the US company at the Globe 2008 Auto Future Tech Summit and features a fourth generation fuel cell propulsion system which has been developed by General Motors (GM). Chevrolet, which was founded in 1911, is a division of GM which develops cars and trucks under its own marquee. Speaking on behalf of GM, vice-president of environment, energy and safety policy Beth Lowery said that such technology can provide a great leap forward. "Fuel cells and the electrification of the vehicle have the potential to literally change the way the world drives," she said.
Skoda rolls out its two-millionth Octavia 12 Mar 2008 (News)
The milestone follows the vehicle's success at the Geneva Motor Show last week. Skoda picked up the AM Used Car of the Year 2008 award for the model at a ceremony hosted at the exhibition, beating off BMW and Mazda to claim the prize. The Japanese manufacturer, a subsidiary of Toyota, sold 3,381 units over the month of September - the highest single-month amount it has ever achieved. It added that 28 per cent of the vehicles it has sold are energy-efficient hybrid cars, with its RX 400h its biggest-selling model across Europe. Steve Settle, director at the firm, commented on what it is that sets Lexus apart from the crowd. He said: "Our advanced technology strategy is proving its value, quality, effectiveness and reliability, helping make Lexus the first choice for an ever greater number.
