  • audi A3 sportback hybrid - audi A3 not moving 14 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I tried any gear and it does not move at all. tried changing all eterno settings and same thing. engine seems to be on since I have to turn off before I leave the car. I checked everything but can't find anything wrong, not symbol lights are on and parking brake off.  any ideas of what to do? or try? My guess as of now, is that even thought it says the eterno battery is almost full I am thinking there is a misreading somewhere. So, I thought I will unplug the battery to see if the system resets and it works but I am afraid I will screw something up by doing this.
  • HGV security 30 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Built in, not a dash cam. Not forgetting the innocent bystanders, how about anticollision systems with autonomous braking? The technology exists, do you think it will it be adopted? It seems the warnings that ferry truckers have been giving for a long time are finally turning true but in an even grimmer way than maybe even they could have imagined.

  • Toyota Corolla Verso - MMT Transmission 23 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Run it for 8 years (and over 130,000 miles) and had no problems other than the general maintenance stuff like tyres and brakes etc.  But the high mileage and age mean the car's probably only worth about £3K at best.  Seemed like a lot of money to be throwing at a low value car. Now the beeping is very frequent and the car is really sluggish and needing high revs to get it moving.
  • Old drivers killing pedestrians 26 Oct 2015 (Forum)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/11270380/Driver-83-mowed-down-mother-when-he-mistook-brake-for-accelerator-in-his-classic-Mercedes.html It seems this year I've read of several fatal incidents involving old f***s mowing down innocent pedestrians in cark parks, in busy towns etc. Each time it irks me to read they all claim they are good drivers, self declared medically fit, and get away with ot by claiming a sneezing, coughing or even unexpectedly "passed out" for a couple of seconds (unfortunate timing).
  • Peugeot 207 - Peugeot 207 Warning Lights-No Speedo-Heavy Steerin 1 Jun 2015 (Forum)
It started intermittently with the dashboard warning lights coming on showing ABS "STOP" faulty, Anti-Pollution Faulty, Braking System Faulty and then the battery light shows and the Speedo goes completely dead. Apart from the steering wheel that goes really hard, the car runs fine. This happened intermittently for a few months and then it just became permanent.
  • Sadistic driving examiners 23 Mar 2015 (Forum)
The wife of one of my work-mates was taking her test when the examiner screamed and smashed, and when she hit the brake the hydraulic pipe burst.  She burst too, into tears, and the car sailed on.  The examiner hauled on the handbrake, took over and drove her back to the test centre. My late father-in-law, a mild natured man in his early 60s, had a nervous breakdown due to the performance and never drove again.
  • 2015 Citroen relay 2.2 - 2015 Citroen Relay dash cam and reverse camera 11 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I have seen this "  New Relay is also available with an optional reversing camera coupled with parking sensors in the rear bumper. The reversing camera is positioned next to the high position third brake light and transmits images to the 5-inch colour LCD screen in the dashboard. The parking camera overlays the image shown with guidelines to make manoeuvring easy in confined spaces." on the citroen website and wondered if anyone hs any experience of fitting a rear camera and fron tfacing dash cam to these vans?

  • Buy used car or lease 25 Jan 2014 (Forum)
The car allowance requires that the car is less than 7 years old I would like to get a 5dr car probably diesel as I will be doing 15k to 20k miles per year, I like the idea of a VW golf, ford focus or mondeo If I buy a 2009 car it will be around £7k which I could take out a 3yr loan but cost of mot, tyres, brakes and any other wear and tear would probably add around 2k over 3 years? Interest on the loan as well total cost would be around 10k. The car might be worth 3k in 3 years time so total cost is 7k?
  • Any - Caliper life, shortened by needless 'servicing' ? 19 Jan 2014 (Forum)
The piston starts life right at the start of its cylinder with big fat pads and disc. The inside of the cylinder will last longer if it is bathed in brake fluid, but until the pads and disc wear it will be more prone to corrosion.  Discs have at least 2mm wear in them and pads many more.  I believe it is important that pads and discs are allowed to wear right down to the minimum before they are changed to ensure the piston travels as far as possible along its cylinder.
  • Vauxhall Corsa C - Undefined Error code on diagnostic test 30 Jun 2013 (Forum)
Another issue I have is that the handbrake light stays on when the handbrake is down even though the brake fluid is full and the handbrake cables have been replaced. A tap on the dashboard (above the light) turns it off until car is started up again however, the light doesnt always come on. What could cause this?
  • Ford Fiesta 1.4 Titanium, 59 plate - Ford Fiesta bleed nipple 2 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I can't see any sign of a leak after driving the car for about two or three miles, but could overtightening a nipple result in any damage? I've told my son to keep an eye on the brake fluid level, but knowing his attitude to cars I don't think he'll bother, so I'm thinking that if there's a likelihood that I HAVE caused any damage I ought to change the caliper; unless of course its possible to replace the nipple on its own.
  • Ford Focus - Focus battery warning light 5 Feb 2012 (Forum)
In general it seems to drive OK, but a couple of times the battery light has come on for a few seconds and then goes out. A couple of times I have seen the light come on as I'm braking at lights. The revs drop but it doesn't cut out entirely. Also, my radio and odometer backlights flicker and dim when the headlights are on. This seems to get worse the longer I have been driving.
  • VW Polo - Shuddering Polo! 7 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I've previously had to replace the front rubbers due to terminal tearing of the inner side wall. So far, it's had new brake discs and pads front and rear, as well as several wheel balancing sessions and the front and rear wheels swapped around for good measure. All to no avail. I presume I'm looking at something potentially more serious, and probably expensive, so can anybody kindly suggest the obvious starting places?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 stalling whilst driving (Automatic) 5 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I get no warning lights, it just switches off as if you have turned the key to switch it off, the power steering disappears, and the brakes go heavy. After 30 minutes of being on the roadside, the car usually starts up again and drives. The only way i have found to keep it going, is when it starts to die, put my foot down on the accelerator, and it will come back to life, but this means flooring it everywhere, and i dont think thats the greatest idea!
  • Jaguar XJ - Earth Point Corrosion - multiple spurious errors 18 May 2011 (Forum)
This fault can manifest itself as - Multiple fault messgages displayed which clear themselves after time or on restart (including engine check light, DSC not available, Cruise not available) Handbrake fault and inability to release handbrake Headlight or headlights not working Speedo and guages "die" whilst driving accompanied by multiple warnings - some serious looking (but not correct) like "brake fluid low". In my case these were traced to the earth points behind the headlights which had disintegrated due to corrosion. The preventative measure is to check and grease the earth studs.
  • Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 2002 - Offside front wheel running very hot!! 31 Mar 2011 (Forum)
When I eventually arrived back home I felt a brief wave of heat as I opened the door and quickly located the source....that being the front offside wheel. It was seriously hot to the point of not being able to touch it. I had all brakes replaced last year about 4 or 5k ago and other than being a bit squeeky, have given me no problems. My other thought was a wheel bearing seized, but I have had no evidence to believe it was 'on its way out', by way of a noise etc.
