  • Nissan Qashqai - Qashqai, loss of power, alarm going off etc 29 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Have said they need it in for a prolonged time to replicate fault, what so they can feel that it feels like the intelligent braking is cutting in when not meant to. I can’t see what use that is if still not registering any fault codes and did not offer me a loan car for that time (under warranty) until I asked for one - they told me in 2 weeks.
  • Nissan Leaf - My Leaf experience 30 Jul 2016 (Forum)
As I was early for my meeting I pulled up to have a look at other controls and pressed the auto parking brake - after that I couldn't get it back in gear.  I think "P" is for when you are ready to leave the car as I needed to turn the car off and restart with the footbrake pressed. Full satnav with camera warnings, rearview reversing camera.
  • LandRover Freelander 2 - Land Rover ongoing costs 10 May 2015 (Forum)
Having had two company Freelander 2's previously I was confident that I knew the fuel running costs and having the warranty set my mind at ease to do the deal. In March however the car needed servicing, the service flagged all brake pads needing replacement and one pair disks. This set me back with the service nearly £900 so already I am over what I had intended to spent split over just a year assuming nothing else goes wrong.
  • Ford Transit Connect - Cooling Problems 25 Sep 2013 (Forum)
I've got some problems with my van again  It's been off the road for a few months now after it got the dreaded clutch rattle and a few other problems and I thought it's time to get it back on the road again. I changed the clutch, brake pads, a few various bearings, speedo sensor, brake/clutch fluid and I drained the cooling system, flushed it through and put fresh coolant back in. Took it for MOT and it flew through with an advisory on tyres lol.
  • Any VW/Audi etc - Why do people still buy VW group cars. 24 Jun 2013 (Forum)
We have lots of threads running at the moment and have over time, there have been so many oft reported problems with the cars from balance shafts to injectors to electric parking brake failures to DSG and Multichronic gearbox problems, in almost all cases the manufacturers group have spectacularly failed to cover themselves in glory as regards standing by their product once warranty has expired.
  • Ford Cougar (1998 - 2000) - 98 2.0 Recent Purchase, few things gone wrong 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi all, a family member is on the forum and recomended I post my problem up here. Here's the scenario: Bought the car in late December, my attention was drawn to new brake discs and pads but a missing aerial and dodgy central locking. Fair's fair £1500 later and it was mine. I have driven maybe 800 miles, but it has been laid up in a car park (secure, work) in the recent snow for about 3 weeks while I was out of the country.
  • Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 98 1.3juddering through pedal & rear bearing noise 12 May 2009 (Forum)
hi all you knowledgeable people! i have just bought a micra 1.3 si 98 model. problem 1: when you apply brakes there is a light judder ( i almost describe it as a wave??!! ye i know that sounds daft!) that you feel through the steering wheel and pedal. it only comes on at 30 down to 0 progressively slowing as you slow down. what cold it be?

  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - Bought a new shed - £350 22 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I am finding it hard to get used to the steering as at low speeds I had nearly miss judge a tight turn, not sure if its just because it I am not used to PAS, or a problem witht the steering but its only done a few miles since the past MOT. In the past MOT it had *New Sills *Four new brake pads/front discs *New brake pipes (these look brand new) *Four new tryes All the above was done as an advisories, but the seller told me a month later the car became surpless and they spent a while decidign what to do, they decided to sell it, so they put 6 months tax on it.
  • Suzuki Swift (2005 - ) - 07 1.5 Crash caused by a manufacturing fault? 23 Jul 2008 (Forum)
t feel a broken fuse would have caused the accident, indicating towards a driver error. I feel that as the ?red-key? function displayed & the brakes locked, with the steering failing ? surely this can?t all be coincidental?! But due to an error with the cars electrics. My dilemma is, obviously I need the car to be fixed, but if I let the car go into the garage for repairs & for the electrics to be tested ?
  • Car servicing schedules, `Benign Neglect`? 28 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Pretty simple really for a Garage to do something about it, rather than just looking at it worsening every year until the owner is notified a new sump is required. The same with brake pipes, just crying out for a smear of grease from the mechanic who has just serviced the brakes. Perhaps instead its a certain seam underneath that always rusts on a given model and every one knows about it in the trade, but does nothing.
  • Why overtake? 20 Oct 2005 (Forum)
When riding with the traffic flow I kept a couple of car lengths back from the car in front to allow for braking or other avoiding action. So WHY ON EARTH did I find that in those 4 miles, 5 cars overtook me into this miniscule space only to immediately cut back across me and brake hard to avoid running into the car in front of us?
  • Recommendations for Agila: 3 choices ... 12 Feb 2005 (Forum)

An 02 plate 1.2 Enjoy, with roofbars, radio-cassette, parcel shelf. 33,000 miles, bright blue I think (it was dark when I saw it!), £4795. Brakes were completely out of my head at the time ...
  • 260, 2.0D portfolio XF - Jaguar DPF 11 Sep 2024 (Forum)
They asked for all error msgs first, then wanted the DPF stripped out and photos sent.  garage say DPF a not a consumable like brake pads , clutch etc.  Garage say this is a common failure. so now my car is in bits the cost to fix in excess of £2,200, the car has just done 600mls  at times on 64mpg without error or errors.
  • Peugeot 3008 2010 - Rear numberplate light fuse location 2 Aug 2024 (Forum)
I’ve changed both bulbs that light up the rear numberplate light, however they still don’t work. Where is the fuse located for these? My rear brake lights both work and I replaced the outer casing for the rear numberplate lights a couple of years back as they had rusted. There is no rusting and the bulbs are held in well so I’m hoping it’s just a fuse.
  • Automatic car with EPB advice please 8 Nov 2021 (Forum)
I'd like recommendations for my next car please? I'm looking for an automatic estate car with an electronic parking brake.  I have become disabled this past year and no longer have the strength to use a handbrake or clutch.  It also needs to be an estate so my electric wheelchair will fit in the boot.  Ideally it needs to be ULEZ compliant too.
  • Volvo V40 cross country - To sell or keep 8 Aug 2021 (Forum)
I currently have a Volvo V40 CC that is in the garage being fixed after the service chucked up several issues (mostly brakes and suspension). It’s going to cost me a huge amount. It’s a 63 plate car with 109000 on the clock. It was a silly heart over head purchase. The parts and servicing cost so much. My question is, should I sell it now, with 12 months MOT and in good condition.
  • Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet - Mercedes auto box reliability 4 Jul 2021 (Forum)
So we're looking at a car around 10 years old. I quite fancy the auto box which would surely help with the weird foot operated parking brake arrangement on these cars but I was wondering if there were any major reliability issues with the 7G-Tronic box. It's obviously something major and expensive to potentially go wrong so any thoughts/experiences would be gratefuly received.
  • 2008 vauxhall agila - selling and trade in schemes 23 Jun 2021 (Forum)
I bought a 58 plate agila 2 years ago in cash and i’m looking to get a new car in march 2022. i’ve had to get a new windscreen, new front bumper, new brakes, suspension fixed, new tyres and other things over the last 2 years. It was my first car so i need advice about which option would get me the most deposit towards a new car. I’m aware it’s not worth much at all (and i definitely overpaid for it when i bought it but first car so lesson learned) but i’m wondering if i could sell it or if there’s a trade in scheme that would get me more for it.
