I have bought one of these recently ex lease with full sevice history and am doing a few service items.

have changed brakes and discs all round 2 new rear tyres as it had a bearing type noise but turned out to be distorted rear tyre .

now issue I need help with MIL was on when I bought it had full sevice and is was knocked off but now back on I have an obd reader and it comes up as code P049 EGR B flow insufficient

detected Reading are egr A cmd 24.3 egr B cmd 0.0

egr A act 24.3 egr B act 0.0

egr A err 0.0 egr B err 0.0

what does this mean and what is the solutio?

Petrol or diesel ? whatever it is , fault codes are only a rough guide, they can be the result of a different problem. I don't think a generic fault code reader is going to give you enough information to accurately diagnose the problem.

A common issue with these engines in Evoque where the Cat is too far away from the turbo to generate enough heat to clean itself, hence more frequent oil changes due to diluted oil with diesel. Unless you do alot long motorway type journeys rather than school runs.

Check with several of the Evoque forums.

Hmm...so we have more information than we can interpret from the generic scan tool (no one has told the OP what his existing message means), so the solution is to get a scan tool that gives us more information?

Double up on the Delphic?

Scan tool, Scam tool?

Spam tool?

MIGHT work, but it might just deepen the mystery.

I'd suggest a reasonable initial approach might be to assume that:-

"Insufficient EGR flow"

means

"Insufficient EGR flow"

Because you, like, havn't got enough flow in your EGR system

Because its plugged solid.

Mine was.

It COULD of course be more mysterious. (I believe MAF sensors can be involved, so cleaning that might be worth a try, though I havn't looked into that).

It might even involve failed DPF regeneration, as mentioned above.

I can't offhand imagine how, but I'm not an OBD2 system, nor do I have one.

Not too unhappy about that.

I think the best scan tool for these outside of dealerships is considered to be the GAP diagnostics.

I am not sure if the Bearmach Hawkeye Total will do it but they are cheaper! And also the Nanocom but again check coverage of your vehicle on both of these options, they are specialist diagnostics but my knowledge does not extend to the newer vehicles. The Nanocom Evolution is more user friendly but pricier than the Hawkeye. The Hawkeye comes unlocked for ALL land rovers so is better value for money if you have other LRs to work on, just needs the right dongle
