Good to drive but unreliable

The car itself is great to drive, with strong acceleration, a smooth gear change and reasonable handling. The exterior pack also makes the car fairly good looking.

Average fuel consumption is however fairly poor. The car returns on average (town / motorway miles combined) around 41 MPG. The engine also consumes a fair amount of oil and has done so from new.

The 6 speed gearbox failed at 70,000 miles. This apparently is a common problem and is due to poor internal bearings which cannot handle the amount of torque the engine produces. The clutch and duel mass fly wheel were replaced at the same time. The cheapest quote for this repair was £2000. Vauxhall wanted £4000 to carry out the works!!!!

The radiator failed at 75,000 miles; again this is a common problem with the car. I have had two of these cars now as company cars and the radiators have failed on both.

The car is now on 99,000 and the engine has developed a dull humming noise at low speed. It’s a good job I am handing the car back next week.
