Hi
Wondering if anybody can help. I got a leaf from the local Nissan dealership in 2019. Recently I had a warning light that my tyres needed pumping up, went to do it but somebody had put metal dustcaps on and they are stuck. Took it back to the dealer today (the dustcaps were on there when I got the car) and they’ve tried charging me £400 to get them fixed. I politely told them that I wouldn’t be paying that and they gave me the after sales director’s email address. Any advice on what to do next? The car is still within it’s 5 year manufacturers warranty. Read more
Now here's one for the panel to think about.
Normally my old Focus (2007 1.6 petrol, 86000 miles) has its annual service and MOT in November. However due to Covid I have only covered 829 miles, so probably will be a 1000 by November. I obviously need to have the MOT done but thinking maybe the service is unnecessary. I check the fluid levels now and again, it has never used any oil in between services. Tyres are all quite new, front disks and pads only 5000 miles ago. Anything serious like an exhaust about to drop off would be picked up by the MOT. Its second cambelt will not be due for another year and that will be by age rather than miles, according to the service book.... Read more
I once (when my car was well out of warranty) changed my service from the (more expensive) more major service to the (far cheaper) minor one because of a similar reason. This was pre-pandemic (by some years) and I just effectively deferred the major service by one year.
Skipping service entirely is, in my view, not recommended because low mileage/usage means certain components may get seized or damaged, like brake pads/discs, air conditioning and even flatspotted /mishapen (due to being left to get flat) tyres....
good morning, this is my first post/question on these forum.
i am due to have my car go in for a service/m.o.t. tomorrow and i have been advised that the car that Nissan will give me is a Micra. they have told me that it will have a quarter tank of fuel and that i will need to re-fill before i return it. I understand this. i have tried to explain that this may be an issue in the current situation.... Read more
Sadly, my suggestion will be too late. Assuming your car has sufficient and compatible fuel and you have suitable container(s) and pipe, syphon out two gallons from the car you are submitting for service and pour them into the Micra.
Hi all, my son is looking at another car, the dealership offers the rac extended warranty. Now I've heard/read these aren't great, but if he were to take it out he would get the " PLATINUM PLUS " i can't seem to find reviews on the platinum plus tier, so I wondered if anyone has this.
Please can I ask its kept to the platinum plus tier.... Read more
IF he absolutely wants an XE
As an ex jaguar Parts manager, I would say if he wants an XE get it from a Jaguar dealer, and he should get it with a MINIMUM 1 year jaguar warranty ( he can go to any dealer then.)...
I bought this as other cars i was interested in were stupidly inflated. I find i actually quite like it so I'm looking for any strategies to keep it going for the long term. My worries include the DSG box (early oil change?) and numerous electronic systems. I didn't realise Skoda connect was only free for a month then i have to pay ?£30 pcm for it. There goes the 600MB software upgrade via WiFi then. . Is the skoda service pack and then extended warranty worth it? I heard of numerous exclusions.
Any help from the experts on here gratefully accepted Read more
Thanks folks. Excellent detailed info. Car was an ex demo FSSH on mileage.Mines not 4x4 but will ensure the dsg oil and filter changed. I love the eco mode as i am a manual box driver all my life and used to coast to play the mpg stingy game! I can see with a car like this you could spend half the time on the brakes so i try to think ahead, perhaps is the flappy paddles. The driving mode default infant what i want so i have to hit that button 3 times to get individual shame out didn't follow the key.
Has anyone tried to do a software update on the infotainment system? Maybe this a main dealer job? When Skoda connect was active it said 600MB via Wifi or now just 64G ? SD Card. Skoda connect has expired and i doubt i want to spend £30 pcm on it....
All in all a great big semi barge that's very comfortable especially for passengers. The 3l bms audis and 5l Mustang are of the shopping list for a while. I have change left for a boxster....
Will try briskoda seeing as i is from Bristle originally. Gert lush me babber.
Looking ideally for a petrol SUV but would consider MPV and Van for 4 or 5 passengers and 2 German sheperds. Not a lot of mileage per year ( under 5k )
The boot must be big enough for them to stand ( or fit a crate ) not just lie down ... Read more
I should correct myself, I don’t know anything about the history of the 1.6 engine in the 08 plate Berlingo and other vehicles but I did know someone who owned one from new, had it for 5 years, the engine and the car was faultless.
Sorry for any confusion.
Finding a 1.6 petrol in the 08 Berlingo is the hard part as they sold so few of them.

It’s not the battery or starter motor. Likely to be related to the fuel injection system . Time to get some diagnostic carried out .
First time it happened fuel was low (I don't normally cut it that close but was late for work). I put the first instance down that and perhaps damage caused.
I live in a street which seems to be ruled by one woman and her parking. Even the local wardens are aware, and they say that legally they cannot do anything. She does not work so is in all day, and anyone who parks in the short stretch of street is spied upon. When her husband leaves for work, she moves her car to block at least two spaces (permit area), and leaves it there until her comes back. There are very limited spaces in this stretch and when my husband comes home he is rarely able to find a spot in this street. She has been approached about this and has proceeded to attack the person, and keyed someone else's car. In the past she has put bags of garden waste to block spaces for visitors. I did report this as I am aware it is fly tipping, but she will have moved them by the time the warden arrives (which obviously can take some time, I understand they are busy). She is making life very difficult. I have asked my local council for advice, as it is a prime spot near the edge of town and lots of people without permits or blue badges park here and go into town also. Occasionally the wardens will come to check, but not often. The woman in question has CCTV and dashcam on 24/7, it's almost as if she is untouchable, and she knows it. I am so annoyed there is nothing we can do, is there? Read more
These are common disputes. If you can park safely nearby, don't stress yourself, and don't get involved unless your driveay is obstructed.

Sorry about that. I can't remember what led me to that conclusion - my apologies.

Prefer the conventional shape of a hi-ride Crossover but I'll go for a SUV

I sometimes park in a multi-storey just down the road from a fit-quick type place. I used to pick up discarded dust caps as I passed, but I've now so many I don't bother.
