Returned to the pride and joy in a Poole car park to find two neat 6” scratches over the rear wheel. No note from the person that did it and I couldn’t polish it out. In a body shop now. Read more

Quotes were varied from £400 to £200 from a well known come to you lot, my indie recommended a body shop near him and the job cost £200.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction
2006 2.0 dci 115 Vivaro. Was running rough and jerking about. I swapped out the fuel filter as I don't know when that was changed as only had the van a year. I also swapped out the boost solenoid as it was making odd noises and rattled. At the same time I checked the vacuum hose from the solenoid to the turbo to make sure that was not leaking, kept a vacuum nicely.
Now it's improved enormously with good acceleration and runs pretty well and tick over spot on. I am still having an intermittent stutter, it then puffs out some black smoke and then carries on like no issue. No lights on the dash and no codes either.
Any advise gratefully received. Read more

An electric coach travelling from London to Cornwall for the G7 Summit was left stranded outside the Eden Project over the weekend, after its battery ran out of juice before finding a charging point. Turns out the race to zero is easier than expected…

The Carbon Battle Bus, which attempted the stunt as part of Planet Mark’sZero Carbon Tour’, ground to a halt with hundreds of miles left on the journey, having failed to find a single functioning charging point across their entire trip through Cornwall. Planet Mark’s slogan is “Empowering change ‍for a brighter future”. Disempowered, it doesn’t ring true.... Read more

Just been to buy some diesel from my local Shell filling station, and it’s closed for refurbishment. It’s put me off internal combustion engines for life.

Trilogy.

Looks like this could still be an option instead of EV.

I've just bought a 2009 i10 1.2, 53k miles. A very genuine car from a genuine seller. Car hasn't been used much over last couple of months apart from a once in a while short run to keep things moving.

Seller said (and I believe him) that a/c was working when last used, and I didn't think to try it during short test drive.... Read more

Yes, you're right. I have it booked in for about £250-worth of work to sort out some body panel corrosion.

A/c is a desirable but not essential feature at the moment (especially as it looks like there'll be no foreign trip this year). I'm hoping that this will be a keeper, so I'll allow some time to see if anything develops. It doesn't need a service or mot this year, so I'll see how the car goes.

Hellothere

I delivered an item for a customer whilst delivering the item i pulled up slowly next to the customers house who were outside already. I heard a bit of a screeching noise. So I came out of the van and the customer Said to me did you hit that car i said i don't think so. So he checked the car that i hit from about 7 feet away but there was no damage and i couldn't see Any either. The weather was sunny and it was around 11am. So he goes i might have clipped the wing mirror but no damage on that either. So i drove off after delivering the item. Would u classed that as hit and run and should i tell the company i work for what happened. This happened in the uk Read more

If it's a signwritten van then I'd suggest letting your employer know an accusation was made even if it's probably groundless. Come to think of it an alleged accident is an acceptable reason for DVLA to disclose Keeper details so if it's the employer's van a word in their ears would be a good thing too.

If I were a manager and I found out someting like this only when reported by the complainant I'd be asking the driver some serious questions and considering whether there was misconduct.

I'm finding many multi lane roundabouts are losing their lane markings. When there are traffic lights at busy periods the traffic builds up and on green it can be like the start of a Grand Prix with drivers changing the lanes that have little paint to mark them. last weekend on a trip to Warwickshire one such roundabout seemed have no lanes marked at all. Is it the same nationwide? Read more

Multilane roundabouts are fine if you are local to an area and know the thing. Lines or no lines if you are new to the thing they can be a nightmare from deciding the lane to enter to then leaving. Some have one lane exiting the thing and others two with the locals haring around it. A lot of them have traffic lights which if you are not moving and in the wrong lane well you know! A good example is Exeter services under the M5, try finding them watching the signs and the writing on the lane. You do get the odd cyclist exiting from an A road on a "suicide mission" If they had any sense they would get off and push far too dangerous for them here!
