A simple question folks, what is the worth of a Lexus over a Toyota, given that they share platforms and engines - is it pure badge snobbery?

I've got a 2018 sportage, nice car, bit iffy on the electric power steering but apart from that drives well. My question....... every year it starts reminding me of the forthcoming service interval. Eventually I book it in (normally overruns by a month), so at around about the extra month I get random error lights all across the board, everything starts tomorrow flash and beeb, goes on for about 5 minutes then clears up. The sceptic in me suspects things is a cunning ploy on kia's part of to scare me into getting the service done, nothing is ever found wrong with the car when I kia finally get their hands on it. Anyone else experienced this, personally if it was is doing it as part of its programming setup I'd think it could be classed as dangerous. Read more
If the steering feels as if you’ve got to overcome some resistance around the straight ahead it’s most probably to do with the wrong kind of grease being used on the rack. Took it to Kia who mentioned a TSB about it and sorted it same day. It’s been fine since.
Can’t help with the spurious electrical issues I’m afraid.
I took possession of my brand new xc60. Got it home and noticed a very slight flaw in the stitching on the leather dashboard.
I’ve highlighted to the dealer who passed it to there warranty department.
Volvo uk want to inspect it via a dealer in order to establish what has caused it.
Call me sceptical but I think they think I have caused it .
Does anyone have thoughts on the matter on how to handle the situation.

Leather repairers can do a brilliant job, my old clk had loads of stitching done and you would never have known. What do you mean by flaw? uneven, coming apart?
In my never ending quest to find a do everything rag top big engine with a legal tow bar capability i saw this. What does the panel think?

Considering the above vehicle which is low mileage. Anything that I should be aware of? How smooth is the auto and what is the cruise control like with brake function. I have adaptive cruise at the moment in my current vehicle. What are the servicing costs?
Thank you Read more
I'm not sure exactly which autobox the 220i AT has. My old 225xe had the torque-converter 6-speed box which was excellent: very smooth and quick to respond to throttle input without getting mixed up. In Sport mode, the car is very lively indeed.
BMW's servicing costs are similar across its range of cars: it's 'condition-based' in which the car tells you when it needs servicing (no more than 20 months or 18,000 miles between services). The first service is a 'minor,' costing about £275, the second is a 'major,' costing about £360 or so.

Hi All
I have a gearbox issue, enroute on way to work this morning, my Micra K11 cut out, (gearbox fine at this point), thought might be damp, I tried re-starting no avail, so cruised in neutral to a safe place, then placed gearbox in park mode.
I waited about 2 minutes engine started fine, set off but gearbox judder / whine, got about 800m down the road pulled in to a layby, then used reverse to straighten up, though gearbox whining, went to select D, now absolutely nothing in all gears.
Though when you place in D, you don't get that engage feel (like that small jolt, feel of engagement), just nothing happens.
The CVT light is not on. The gearbox done 130,000, but had regular oil changes.
Any ideas what this could be? I was wondering, if I placed it in P mode, whilst wheels were not stationery, has possibly screwed it up? Read more
Many thanks for the replies, these gearboxes seem very complex, as mentioned has to be straightforward fix, as anything other be worth much more than the car worth.
The car been a decent servant!
Hi all, long story short - car written off by LV after a HGV went into the back of me, admitted liability etc. LV have offered a settlement figure to pay off the PCP plus some cash to me due to the car value and amount outstanding and Car Care Plan are topping up as part of the Vehicle Replacement Insurance.
Car Care Plan have received all of my documents - new vehicle order form, vehicle invoice, LV settlement amount and my PCP settlement figures.... Read more
Yeah same here, according Car Care Plan it is undervalued by £1K by LV, its in Car Care Plan's interest to have a higher valuation and then they're liable for a lesser payment.
I'm currently 'loaned' a new E Class Mercedes on the 3rd parties insurance so have to wait the 15 days...........to which they are using to the maximum!!!!!
