How did Tiger Wood manage to crash a modern car with so many electronic aids?
Why didn't the car apply auto emergency braking? Read more
Hello, sometimes when I start my car, the revs shoot up too around 2000rpm and then come back down after a second or two. This happens intermittently.
Another thing too point out is when I accelerate in any gear and get too around 2000rpm,there is a hissing/metalic grind noise. Sounds like a tsssssssssss noise. As soon as the revs go about 2000 rpm the noise isn't there.... Read more
I had similar symptoms. Car would idle OK but become intermittantly undrivable when hot. My best guess was that something (perhaps the intake manifold) was opening a gap due to thermal expansion.
Blowing butane over all the plumbing and manifold didn't find anything....
I am looking to buy a used car with a budget of £6000 - £8000 and I'm totally torn between a Mini, Jazz and Polo.
My 100% non negotiable is size - I want a small car that is easy to park. Other than that, considerations are speed (current have an old i10 - it would be nice to have something a little more exciting to drive), reliability, style (personally like the look of the Mini), cost to run and space for luggage.... Catalyst converter theft on the Jazz affected the very first Jazz, no issues on anything built since 2008.they fitted an undertray to cut down on theft on 2008 Jazz and Accord, and 2015 models fitted under the bonnet close to manifold to make them harder to get to....
It would take more than 2 minutes to steel teh cat on my 2012 Mark2 Jazz.
Anyone else get fed up of being badgered via phone/email/text by main dealers wanting to sell you a new car/service/MOT/whatever?
I usually buy new and change my car every 18 months (on average). Despite repeatedly asking dealers not to hold my contact info, nor to contact me further, they don't seem to get the message. Is this need for constant communication a Millennials/Gen-Z thing? Currently trying to tell the Honda dealer in Edinburgh to gie us peace but their calls and texts keep coming. ... Read more
Had this years ago with a Ford dealer after buying a vehicle from them.
I asked them politely twice not to keep contacting me with there weekly sales letters & leaflets....
Might seem like a grand philosophical question, but bear with me!.
My understanding of it is for folk to discuss motoring related topics. Someone might say something which someone else disagrees with, and they say so. For the most part, this seems to work well enough, though occasionally neither party will back down, things get heated, and a moderator has to intervene. Very occasionally, someone, I'm thinking particularly about someone who shares how name with a famous Fireman, comes along and posts stuff so offensive it needs to be removed, as it should. But unless said post is obviously and deliberately offensive, (as far as I am concerned) it should be left as is. ... Read more
I put all these things down to gliches in the technology or software. Vagaries have to be accepted as part of the deal I suppose. Don't envy Avant his job at all, bit of a thankless task but I and many others do appreciate his deft handling of situations to date. So well done. I can understand why BBD is frustrated, as pointed out he regularly gives well researched replies which are helpful and courteous. It must be annoying if they get lost in the ether. lets hope that Kalpesh can provide a solution, until then we will simply have to continue as we have previously.
Cheers Concrete
Hello all
I’m looking to buy a honda civic tourer built between 2014 and 2017. I want the 1.8 petrol and preferably with an auto box.
Does anyone know if the 5 speed auto on the civic tourers is torque or cvt? I’m hoping the more reliable old fashioned torque!
Cheers

I'd snap up a good one quickly, before they get really sought after. Could be a friend for life.
Was thinking along the same lines when I purchased a manual 67 reg 1.8 Tourer Navi just a couple of days into 2020....
Does it apply to all cars or just the new C4?

Brilliant news from Citroen Will sister brands Peugeot & Vauxhall/Opel follow suit? I can see Peugeot offering it, but as Vauxhall / Opel is becoming the budget brand, I don’t think they will go to 5 years especially as they still have some GM legacy models. Likewise, will Fiat and Jeep offer it?
They may simply use differing warranty lengths as differentiation aspects between brands - Hyundai, Kia and Genesis all have different warranty length/mileage limits despite all being the same group.

Hi all. New owner to a ford. I inherited a ford fiesta zetec Mk6 2007 1.4 16v from a elderly gentleman who passed away. Unfortunately the car has been stood for 14 months if not more before I took ownership. In the last 2 weeks, she has flown through an MOT with no work doing or needed which surprised me completely, I've changed all 4 alloys to steels because somehow 3 out of 4 was egg shaped and a few cosmetic bits light upgrade bulbs, good polish and was etc.

Any good motor factors should stock it . ( no particular make) . Sometimes get a small tube of it in the box with the ht leads .
It doesn't work like that - if you accept the FPN you pay, if you don't accept it or want your day in court, you don't pay until the court decision.
