Looking at one of the latest generation 508sw in a GT line spec. Looks to be some cracking deals out there at the moment. Anyone had any experience ? Problems? Also size wise how do they compare the data suggests the boot is the same size as my 5 series estate? Read more
Hello,
I have received my summons for a speeding offence today. I was caught doing 88 in a temporary 50 zone on a motorway. I’m a guilty and accept that. I’ve been given the option to please guilty and accept a 33% reduction in the fine. 2nd option plead guilty go to court and plea mitigating circumstances and hope to get punishment or reduced even further on top of 33% discount. Or plead no guilty which is a no brainer I won’t be doing that.
According via online sources my offence comes under a Band c offence and will be charged 150% of weekly income. I earn about 14k a year so that works out at just under £450.
My question is should I expect I higher fine seeing as the Max is £2500? And should I plea my mitigating circumstances that it’s a first offence and my good character?

Not much you can do, pay and learn your lesson. The fine is irrelevant, the points on your licence will cost more than the fine in the long run.
Future tip: motorway roadworks are ALWAYS properly monitored. Never drive more than speed limit + 10%. They’re different from the average speed checks in cities which 9 out of 10 times don’t work at all.

2017 i10 automatic.
23,000 miles. The car is in for its 4 year big service and Hyundai say the drive belt is shredding. They say £160 to supply and fit which sounds crazy.
Some questions.
Is there one belt on an automatic?
How easy is it to change. ( I have done belts before on other cars). Is this a stretch belt?
Eurocar parts say £12.99p for a Dayco belt. I think these are good quality. Are they?
Any help much appreciated. Read more
Ford Focus auto. 20yrs old, nearly 150,000 miles. Belt looks fine. No intention of changing it. Gets an occasional squirt from an ancient can of Grako Sprazon belt dressing.
Would be good to see the Mazda 3 offered here with the 2.5 too.

Thanks for the feedback, 55 mpg sounds pretty decent in real world conditions, is that urban or extra urban miles?
The 55 mpg is in mixed motoring. For the once a week shopping trip (about 11 mile round trip) I make sure that there is sufficient battery since its about 1/2 the cost of petrol. On the longer trips we have been making (about a 75 mile round trip on average) I make sure we have a full battery before we set off. I set it to hybrid mode and let it sort it out itself but if it appears that we will have excess battery left when we get home I change it to battery. If we do run out of battery it simply changes itself to hybrid....

Hi I have my eye on a pre reg van that still has some warranty left on it; if I buy it and then re register it to a private number plate, would this cause issues with the warranty ?
Thanks Read more
I bought a pre-reg in Feb 17, car was registered in December. Although the car was unused the first service was due in Dec 17, and 5 year warranty will expire in December 21. Just be aware.

Hi
I have a really bad rubbing sound from the gearbox area.
It is the same in all gears, when the clutch is engaged.
If you push in the clutch and free wheel there is no noise.
I have...
Changed the clutch, plate and slave. I had the noise before this ( I replace as I thought it maybe this making the sound)
Checked the wheel bearings, all good.
Any ideas!!??
Is it the differential bearings? But this should make a noise when free wheeling or not??
I need help, please.
Kind regards

Battery it came with won’t charge above 9V. I don’t want to buy a new one (at least not yet) because it isn’t my car and it has other potential issues that need test driving to evaluate.... Read more

Owner got tired of me messing around with it and took it back, probably to his "mechanic friend" to get a new battery installed. (All Taiwanese seem to have "mechanic friends" who they well-meaningly but irritatingly try and hook you up with as soon as you lift a bonnet) ...

The silver ones are ‘shortcut’ buttons that take you straight to the relevant screen. The black ones below them are heated seats, demist, HRW and recirculate.
And people tend to forget that voice command works pretty well by pushing one button on the steering wheel.
