We see a lot of people talking about the best Japanese sports cars of the 90s, but what about the average Joe? Recently I have been trying to get myself a small little Japanese car from the 90s or late 80s to enjoy retro fun. Having already done research, lots of recommendations go for the K11 Nissan Micra, especially as there's still an abundance of them around. But I've been thinking of getting something that is more rarer and discreet.

The Nissan Sunny is definitely a very uncommon car nowadays. I've seen several hatchbacks of the N13 and N14 for sub-£1k, most being the 1.3. Then there's also Toyota Starlet, having found a 1.3 1994 model for cheap and even a 1.0 80s Starlet for under 1k. Plus some K10 Micras albeit over 1k. I've also found Honda Civics of the time but they have larger engines and could be pricier to run.... Read more

What about an old Polo, maybe a MK2 if you can find one. Or even an early MK3. Tough as old boots mechanically, quite well protected against corrosion, although not as good as the 205 I don't think. The 205 was exceptional, I seem to recall HJ mentioning something years ago about how well designed it was in that respect, with no mud traps etc. for corrosion to start.

Agreed re Polo but as per my previous post some have better metal than others - Mrs BJ had a 1984 Polo for 19 years - mechanically fab and body was amazing re rust. My sister had a 1990 version of the same that was not great at all re rust. It was failing aroung the fuel filler, rear windows, wheel arches, windscreen surround, sills.....

Hello, can someone please help me, I have a Punto 1.9JTD HGT 2003 which it had 15 inch alloy wheels but I noticed a hair line cracked on one of my alloy it must be the potholes it damaged, I want to change all into steel wheel, the size that I required is 15 inch with 6.0j x ET33 with PCD of 98mm x 4 stud but they don't sell with ET33 but only ET35. Would this fit with no problem and I don't really understand what ET is mean? is something do with width of center hub?

Yes bore size is very important, some aftemarket alloys are made with a typical spigot size for the mopst common fitments and they supply adaptor rings so the spigot is a snug fit on the hub for smaller hubs, if you ever have these types of wheels with adaptors be most careful when removing a wheel that the ring doesn't fall off and get lost, without the correct rings you will not get the wheel central on the hub and an eccentric wheel is not a pleasant experience.

It's a very sad day when you look at a small hatchback and say "£27,000 is competitive".

Competitive in EV terms (for the base model with 205 mile range), but still a huge amount of money, even when our tax money is used to add a further discount. Read more

Isn't this what smart meters are for? Distinguishing between electricity for the house and the car and being charged different rates.

That's my thoughts exactly - and it's why my energy supplier is relentlessly chasing me night and day to have one fitted....

A number of manufacturers are set to offer 7 seater options or vehicles in the next 24 months; there is increased demand for people carriers.
People having larger families?
People not owning cars but wanting to be able to give friends and family members a lift?

The latter is more common from a small sample of Anglia.
A Family have gone with a grand scenic to be able to take the grandparents on holiday as they no longer own a car.
