Any tips?...
Hi, I have done a lot of work on my car recently but the only thing I am really struggling with is refitting the DPF/Exhaust back onto the turbo, it keeps blowing out!
I didnt think I would have this much hassle when removing it so I did not pay much attention when removing. I have researched lots of videos//images etc online but I cant find much about this procedure for this model ... Read more
What car is it fitted to? The problem you have is not many people have a 1.9pd with a DPF as pd technology didn't work well with the active regen cycle - hence VAG quickly moved to CR engines which played much better with DPFs. It does sound as though something is missing, required for reassembly. Also if this was fitted to the car before is it possibly blocked? - I'm guessing it was removed for a reason....
After prolonged rain, gets into the passenger front footwell. I can see drips on the bodywork under the area with fusebox in the passenger footwell. A hose for 20 minutes for example doesn't cause a leak so I'm struggling to find where it's getting in. I've fixed the boot hinges leak previously so don't think it's that. Has anyone any ideas where it might be getting in? Thanks. Read more
It's definitely rainwater as it only happens when it rains, and only for a prolonged period, which suggests a build up somewhere and then over-topping to leaking. I've had the hose on it for 30 minutes and no water leaks in. I had it on the roof above the passenger seat. The pollen filter is inside, unlike the mark 1's where I've seen the fix for the leak from there.
Me and the wife have decided to consolidate our cars, we have a sporty car for the summer but we now want a car that can be used for long journeys and can do some off-roading and hopefully we can camp in it.

No DPF issues so far
I've posted updates on this car since purchase, as a case study for the forum on someone taking a risk on an older DPF-equipped diesel at an attractive used price. ...
Hi there, hoping someone can help!
New 20 plate SEAT Ibiza done about 800miles. I’ve noticed both rear brake discs have some gouges in and find it odd for the age of the car and barely driving over any stoney paths that a stone/dirt could hit both rear brakes but both front discs are immaculate. I haven’t heard any noises during my time in the car. I’ve booked into the SEAT dealership next week for them to take a look but they have said they’ll charge £79 if they don’t believe it comes under the warranty. Anybody able to help advise on whether something could be mis-aligned etc. Or do you think it’s just bad luck and come under ‘wear and tear’. Pictures here.

Thats just minor scoring and i'd leave them be, if you end stumping up for new discs by the time you've covered another 800 miles they will be just the same.
Fronts do the lions share of braking so with every application of the brakes any dirt thrown onto the discs or pads gets swept off, the rears do so little work in some cases even common rust build up barely gets cleaned off....
This vane thing on the bottom of the big end bothers me, partly because I don’t know what its for (oil fling? retaining spring? I've never taken a compressor apart before) and partly because I cant remember which side it was on,

I have only made limited use of the satnav since buying the car last year. Recently I’ve used it a lot and the satnav is very annoying. For example it will try to take you off a clear motorway and then back on a few miles later.
It’s set to fastest route and shows estimated arrival time. Invariably if I ignore the daft suggestions it recalculates and shows an earlier arrival. So it’s wrong and I am right.... Read more
TBH, many sat navs do this, including Google maps, not just the manufacturer's in-house ones. I think that one of the main problems with sat navs, as with people, is that they do the 'lemming thing' - which affects the outcome of what it recommends you subsequently do, i.e.
Traffic busy on the motorway in front - tells you to get off and go through a town's road that run parallel to the original road;...
Hello,
My late grandfathers reanult kangoo has been sat in the garage since his demise, which is fully fitted with a mobility ramp which takes up all the room in the back. This makes it totally useless for any kind of loading whatsoever. ... Read more
I guess the floor has been lowered for easy access, in which case the rear bumper and tailgate will have been modified . Also a different fuel tank would have been fitted to allow for the lower floor . Can’t see any problem removing the ramp . Are there any remote controls for this and a winch? I think the load floor will need to be re adapted to make it useful as a van . Does it have disabled controls on the steering wheel? If you do convert back to a van , don’t forget to inform the Dvla , as the ved will probably be different.

What a surprise. Renaults will never be called the “Diamond of Doom”again after this performance !

If the lady won't see sense, then go for a petrol Evoque, or if a diesel find one of the earlier 2.2 engined variants. The transversely-mounted Ingenium engine is prone to DPF issues, a shame as that reason more than any ruled it out for me.
