Anyone seen news of the the unveiling of the new Nissan this morning? I think it looks great, and a real step forward for beleaguered Nissan. Front end reminiscent (to me) of the new Peugeot 2008, and that's a good thing.

40k is a lot of money, still not even slightly interested in EVs anyway. "charge your EV on level 2" says the sign in the Blackpool carpark this week. "out of order" says the sign on the one and only charger.
Had a shock on Saturday to open a letter from the DVLA enclosing a cheque for a refund of car tax on my wife’s Honda that she has owned for the last six years. We hadn’t asked for a refund or Sorned the car.
i eventually spoke to the DVLA that morning to be told that somebody has applied for a log book for the car and that my wife was no longer the registered keeper. They were unable to give me any further information about the “new” keeper. I was advised to apply for a new V5 in my wife’s name with a covering letter and to cash the cheque and that in order to comply with the law I’d have to re tax the vehicle if we wanted to drive it.... Finally got to the bottom of this.... I think. All down to a dishonest dealer it seems.
To cut a long story short about a year ago I transferred an index number to the Honda from an old MG. This transfer can now be done online no need for DVLA to see the old V5. I “spoilt” the old V5 and kept it in the the MG’s history file ( bad mistake I should have destroyed the V5 )The MG was issued with another index number. I sold the MG to a dealer with all docs in October 2019.
i finally spoke to a lady at the DVLA who was interested however not terribly forthcoming and it seems the dealer has managed to register the MG with the old index via the “spoilt “ V5 though I don’t know why would have generated a road tax refund to us. Not all the dots line up but I think this is what happened, It’s been incredibly frustrating, we’re allowed to drive the Honda which I’ve retaxed but if the Police checked on the index number displayed on the Honda it would show an MG. Yep, I give up too.
The DVLA are going to contact the new owner to tell them that the registration number they’ve been issued is incorrect, should be interesting. I’d like to listen to the conversation when the owner of the MG contacts the dealer.......
My 65 plate 520d is starting to make a noise, intermittently and randomly when under acceleration. It alarmist sounds like the exhaust is blowing. Engine noise increases but only under acceleration and it only happens every so often so can’t be exhaust. Any ideas? Read more

This is one for Eleckiedoctor. I am in need of new dash cam to replace a useless piece of kit.
The Silent Witness is hard wired with the cam near the rear view mirror. After this useless piece of kit fitted on my drive I am loathe to employ anyone not fully recommended. I understand you are based in Essex. Does your business empire extend to deepest Kent? If so I would like a new system fitted. If you can't then a recommendation would be appreciated. Any time to suit.... Read more
Google techmoan (www.techmoan.com) for a very good view on dashcams. Fitting one is far from rocket science so any car radio shop or auto electrician should be able to do it easily, google those in your area to check for good/bad comments. I have a Viofo A119S (for last 4 years) which mounts at the top of the screen mainly behind the speckled sun strip with just the lens pointing out below, very neat and unlikely to get nicked as you can barely see it. You can get similar with a rear camera as well.
Following on from my charger question(satisfactorily resolved thanks to you chaps) I now wish to pick your collective technical brains and experience further. I am growing increasingly hard of hearing. Not deaf but declining. I am awaiting tests and possible solutions to the general problem but the lockdown has interrupted that process. The real problem is the TV volume. As usual SWMBO has hearing like a bat and eyesight like a hawk, or so she would have me believe. In order to hear the speaking parts I need the volume at 14 then of course the music comes in or a car chase starts and the volume is too loud. Even at 14 on conversation SWMBO finds it too loud. We already have other TV sets around the house but we do like to watch some things together. Ideally I would like some headphones I could use that would not cut the sound off to the room, preferably wireless ones to avoid trailing leads. Any advice on availability or makes and models would be appreciated as I am sure someone on the forum has encountered this problem previously. Thank you all.
Cheers Concrete Read more
Thanks again gentlemen.
I think SWMBO is starting to favour of the Aventree unit, she'd want a proper demonstration of something costing £300+ before buying but that's most likely not going to happen at the present time....

Correct and that ban on older Diesels will be countrywide in a few years (around 2024). My elderly parents are in the process of giving up their beloved 2004 Renault Scenic II Diesel because of this.

OP has done well to get 9 years from a Corsa coil pack. Some owners keep a spare in the car as it is such a common problem.
