Hi all I'm having some real troubles setting the timing on my friends Vauxhall combo it's a 62 plate and the timing chain has snapped at only 60k on the clock. I've had the head off had the engineers strip and check the valves ect but I'm now in the process of putting it back together and I'm having issues setting the timing as the crank hasn't actually got a proper timing slot, I've tried putting it tdc but then can not get the camshaft to set into its locking position as the valves are hitting the piston, I've tried moving it round from tdc and locking the cams then taking no1 back up to tdc but again hits the valves. I have auto data but that's about as much use as a chocolate tea pot.... I'm really at a loss for where to go from here guys and would massively appreciate some help thanks in advance aaron Read more
Hoping to find someone with experience of my issue that can offer some technical advice.
My 2014 Ford Galaxy randomly cut out one day whilst driving. Eventually you could turn it back on, but after a few hours the same happened. We got it towed to a Ford dealer and they diagnosed a faulty PCM. Despite being out of warranty Ford agreed to cover 90% of the cost of a replacement. All good so far....... Read more
Are they using the correct “asbilt” data ? Have any other parts of the car been replaced that are part of the security network? The car hasn’t been altered since new. I’d hope they are using the correct as-built data, but I have no way of knowing.
I get 54 mpg from my Swift ZX T, perhaps it is the drive or just short driving around London! Read more
Have owned a swift booster jet auto for about 7000km and I will regularly get 65mpg on open roads. And with some very careful accelerator use on a recent 100km trip got 75mpg averaging approximately 90 km/h. I have always used 98 octane fuel. So I wonder if this contributes to the good MPG.
This review and others says the car is a bit cramped in the back. Mine isn't. Don't know quite how they arrive at that conclusion. Read more
How can the new Mazda 3 win this category based on owner's reviews when only a handful of brand new cars have just been delivered in the UK?
A worthy winner! I have one and it’s a great car - I love it! Read more

I just hope that the rumours about Volvo reliability (lack of) prove to be groundless as I wouldn’t mind one of these, but I’ll wait and see.
I note that the HJ site review still only gives the 308 four stars, highlighting its "Clunky manual gear change" - but this was very successfully addressed in the 2017 (?) facelift version. Perhaps the reviews should be re-viewed occasionally? Read more

had a Suzuki Sidekick (the USA version of the Virtara. It was, by a wide margin the very WORST vehicle I have ever owned. The head warped at 27000 miles - requiring an expensive rebuild and AGAIN at 56000. Suzuki warranty service was non-existent and evasive. Not surprisingly, Suzuki withdrew from the US market COMPLETELY. In America, cars are driven hard and the Suzuki was just too feeble. Read more

I hardly think it’s the same car David. Suzuki withdrew from the states around 7 years ago!
So HJ you didn't find any issues with 1.5TSI EVO assuming you actually drove a Kodiaq fitted with said engine, probably the Press were given top of the range TDIs to drive. Read more
Once again, the awards are not decided by us. These are the models that have been viewed the most by readers on the site over the past 12 months.
Are you using the correct timing lock up pins for crank and camshaft ?
