I am due to sell my 2014 1.4 TDi Polo, and am not sure how to deal with the following.
It used to have a problem with the back wheels sticking after sitting overnight in the rain. When I spoke to the dealer about this, they talked about sandblasting as a solution, which I never went ahead with. The problem was very bad when I'd left the car sitting in constant rain for a few days - it took a lot of accelerating/reversing to force the wheels loose.... Read more
Hi all
My passenger side brake and rear light have suddenly stopped working. Obviously changing the bulbs hasn’t worked and the fuse for those lights is for both sides so have ruled that out.
Any ideas on what could be wrong? Not sure if this is relevant but the cabin light no longer switches on when the passenger side front door opens either, but that has been the case for a while before the issue with the rear lights.

Check the brake switch under the pedal. These fail quite often.

The steering wheel should be clamped or held straight and then the front wheels should be aligned. Like this:-
Just heard a snippet advertising Moneybox on Radio 4 today at midday (Saturdaythe 5th). It said insurers finally admit to increasing the premium after no fault incidents.

As someone who pays an average of £150 a year I don't consider that sort of premium unreasonable. On that basis I would tend to agree with your thinking.

Another vote for the Miele. We have had a Miele Cat and Dog for several years now and I continue to be impressed with the quality. I have to agree with sajid, bagless are a pain. I I RC the Miele cost about the same as a Henry. Avoid Mr.Dyson's efforts, the triumph of marketing over quality.
Hello,
Does plugging in a OBD monitor void a cars warranty? I was under the impression it wouldn't, however since I've plugged it in, my car now displays a message saying:... Read more
The Obd port is a global access link for anyone with the correct diagnostic kit. Using a 10 bob fits-anything device is likely to cause a problem, as you have found out. Sounds like something has been corrupted. Take it back to the dealer. Hopefully they will sort it for free.
I don't believe that for a second. All cars and light commercials have been EOBD compliant since 2001 for petrol and 2004 for diesels. That legislation includes a set of protocols by which all vehicles must comply. Using a cheap generic scantool may not be the best suited tool for any specific diagnosis, but they're read only devices and should not cause any harm to any controllers or change any parameters.

imo you are more likely to get better/more responses on a Prius-specific forum e.g. www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/forum/52-prius-clu.../ priuschat.com/forum/ etc.
you will need to tell them at least what generation Prius & any other details (age, service history etc) will help.
As a salesman in the 90’s and as the son of a parent who loved buying cars I remember the feeling of picking up and delivering cars when we had an annual plate change. I was against it when the twice a year change was first suggested but the trade were in support as they believed it would spread sales throughout the year helping with cash flow. Fair enough but where the fun? I loved car spotting on the 1st of August and always enjoyed my Dad picking up a new car.
It took the joy out of buying a new car which you picked up your brand new registration on August 1st and had a new car for a full year. Today no one cares what age your plate reflects and as I predicted at the time pre-registration and mass discounting along with this double plate change would accelerate depreciation and I was right.
We can trace the decline produced family sized cars back to this point with larger blue collar models like the Omega, Vectra, Mondeo etc etc plummeting in demand as fleets sought to avoid the painful depreciation they suffered from.
It’s also when we seen the decline in advertising spending. In the 80’s and 90’s we had a UK car show and smaller shows like the Scottish car show at the SECC along with small regional shows but today there’s nothing promoted by the manufacturers. Another dose of fun removed.
Buyers increasingly weren’t interested in the new stock we were flogging and wanted nearly new instead. First our Proton dealerships sales plummeted and it was canned in favour of used cars only and then they binned the Mitsubishi franchise too. The multi-site dealership now sells used only which is a shame but fewer and fewer people wanted to buy new.
The advent of PCP’s and personal leasing did revive sales (but not profit margins for dealers) but again where’s the fun in picking up a car you’ll never own? I’ve only done it once with a Honda CRV and it was like picking up a new appliance. I’ll stick to used from now on. Read more
I always wonder why people have a problem with cars they don't own. No one knows, or cares come to that, whether you own your car or have it on a finance deal. I regularly drive hire cars for business. None of these are mine but I still enjoy driving them. Unless you are going to customise it as soon as you get it, what does it matter?

2011 Fiat Panda. Current battery is an Exide 12v40AH. (original battery?)
When starting car from cold the car starts OK with not much cranking but often the dash clock time resets to 0 and there is a rattle behind the dash/console on the Right Hand Side - perhaps a relay clicking in and out several times ? This happens almost every time first time each day but seems to be cold weather related as it did it twice last winter but almost every time this winter. The car can stand several days without use. After a journey when I restart the car to return home the clock retains its time.... Read more
As above , the battery has reached the end of its life. Target price is around £60- 70 . Stick with a known brand . Avoid any Lion brand.
