Hello all
I am wanting to buy a car seat and have bee told it is suitable so long as it has a top tether point. However, I am having trouble finding it, can anyone possibly help?... Read more
Hello, hoping for some advice. I was driving in central lane on a one way. Someone pulled into middle lane from a concealed side road into middle lane(ass closest lane to their entrance had parked cars along it) I was doing 30, saw the person pulling into my lane and braked to avoid collision, plus swerved to avoid the crash, but couldn't swerve left as there was a car to my right, instead serving right and we collided. I hit my passenger front side at 45degree angle into her rear. She entered the road into my right of way, couldn't have seen the flow of traffic was coming, and I'm sure it was on her. She admitted fault at the scene and also pulled out of a driveway that was entry only. Am I in the right or is she? Many thanks Read more
Much appreciated for the advice. Cheers
I am now running the car on Vredestein Ultra ceuto 215/55/ZR 16 97Y.
The tyres are rated at 67 for noise but over rough tarmac the noise is terrible. Over smooth its very queit.... Read more
My C5 2.2 estate is a bit older (2001) and is on 205/65 tyres so sorry, not directly comparable. For what it's worth, though, mine came with Michelin Energy tyres and up until the most recent set I have always replaced with the same - they were always very good for performance and low noise. However, I've just put on Michelin Cross Climates and they are phenomenal: very reassuring roadholding and even quieter than the Energy rubber. So you could definitely try that when it's time for new tyres.
Hi all
I accidentally reversed into a parked car a few days ago. I didn't see that it's bumper was overhanging the space it was in. Still, my fault. Small scratch to both vehicles. No owner in sight. I stopped, went into the reception and gave my name/number/other car's reg number. Then left the area, returning within about 30 mins after reading online I should also leave a note on the car. Left a note on the car with name/number/apology. Went back twice more that day in the hope of catching them to speak to, car still there but no owner around. ... Read more
Oh wow Falkirk Bairn. It's beyond me how someone could say that?! I know you're not supposed to "admit fault" but surely in situations like this, there's really no way of denying it?
I'm really glad to hear they paid up in the end, but sorry it wasn't easy. ...
I thought I had lost the spare key to my (2013) Citroen C4 Picasso and, at some cost, bought a new remote key which Citroen programmed. Of course, a few months later I found the original key! I no longer have the car and wondered if the key can be reprogrammed for another C4 Picasso? I obviously wouldn't want to sell it on if it can't. Help/advice would be much appreciated. Read more
No, it can't (well, not easily). When coding the key, the car writes the code to the chip in the key - and this is a one shot operation. So you can't recode the key to another car - unless you replace the chip, but not sure how easy this is on a C4 Picasso key.

Read moreWe've decided to look for a replacement for our 6 year old current model Polo, we could do with more space and a bit more comfort. Most of our journeys are short local ones with the occasional longer trip and we average about 7000 miles per year. Our driving pattern makes a petrol engine seem like the logical choice but some models which are attractive, such as BMW tourings in 3 and 5 series, and V70 Volvo estates, are almost impossible to find in petrol form. ( We're looking at either new or up to 3 years used) We are also considering Quashqais and X Trails, and although there are a few petrol versions about they are far less common and I am concerned that when trying to resell they will be harder to shift. On the other hand I am reading less and less positive about diesels too, with suggestions they will be banned from some cities. Any opinions on diesel v petrol in our position? Read more
re: the Honda 1.6 diesel, I can't find any DPF issues with it or any major problems so far, indeed it is universally highly praised.

I saw an article today that said that NCP was going to increase the size of car parking spaces as the number of car park accidents has increased with increasing car size. This is to be welcomed but will mean an decrease in the number of spaces!
In reality I think this is the tip of an iceberg as some of todays cars are also to big for many country lanes, numerous side streets and definately the school run. In this overcrowded country of ours the government need to think of ways to get people to downsize.... Read more
It would be good if they could park themselves though - a bit like valet parking in the USA but without all the tipping etc.
I'm not sure I like the idea of self-driving cars. I'd come out of the house expecting it to take me somewhere, and it would be waiting in the queue at the hydrogen station for a fill-up (hopefully it would bring me back a cake)....
My mileage has recently increased (well, in the last 6 months) to over 20k per year with most of them being weekly runs to the Lakes; a weekly journey of just over 200 miles round trip. In addition I have normal commute etc mileage during the week plus some other longer motorway runs twice weekly.
I currently run a Toyota RAV4 2.2 D-CAT Auto which I love in every other respect than the running costs.... Read more
I will do. Today is only day 1 but with the same driving, and on the same regular run as the RAV4, the V40 computer is showing 48.9 mpg.
Even allowing for the error in both cars' calculations that's a massive difference. I think the only person disappointed I have changed cars is the bloke in the local Shell petrol station :-)
Just to clarify top tether is part of the isofix system. If you have isofix you will have labels on the seat cushions, often where the seat back meets the seat base.
