I take most motor reviews with a pinch of salt in the UK as they focus on the how good the car is over a 5 minute ownership lifetime - HJ is the exception.
Having read some US reviews I like the focus on the real issues that impact ownership such as reliability and costs etc.
Am I alone in thinking that they seem to focus more on what average car owner wants more than the UK press. Read more

How good is Kia's 7 year warranty. I apprieciate that it will not include wear and tear items just like any other manufacturer. Anyone got any real life experience of Kia's 7 year warranty. Read more
Seeing what's been replaced,no wonder it needs a seven year warranty!

The MK1 Toyota Yaris Auto is in a differnt league. Picked up a 2000 CDI with 60K for £2100 and it has been perfect.
HJ's best car of that era with a torque converter no cambelt and Japanese build quality its a hard act to follow.
Trying to key in radio code but pressing 1 repeatedly just gives a row of zeros, instead od ascending number. Any help? Read more

On a slightly different note they can already determine actual speeds at impact etc. from looking at some the car black box data (air bag opening speed as an example).
But getting back to the point as one of the most monitored and spied upon on country's in the world - we all know we have more cameras than China and Russia, I have no doubt that the UK government will be one if the first to make this law in the U.K.

My firm now has (I believe) a brand new 1.2TSi Yeti (110ps) as a pool car - I haven't driven it yet (its only been with us for a week or so), but I'll report back as to what I and other colleagues find it drives like.
Given I've liked the performance of the latest 1.4TSi via reviews here, but have been hesitant to seriously look at any VAG car due to (IMO) general reliability problems and poor customer service when trying to rectify them, this will be a good test without risking £15k+ on just a test drive or two. I was thinking of putting back any purchase to Jan - March 2017 when some new cars are brought to market, before the VED band changes are enforced (an increase of well over £100pa for many cars)....

Ford Lookers heard a knocking noise from my Ford Fiesta Black Special Edition and requested time for further investigation. I declined and was happy to carry on. You can imagine how much money I would have spent with official Ford technicians !!! Turns out the heater motor was slowly on its way out. It's a pig to get to it. What happens is the noise slowly gets louder and louder. The bearings go, the blades shatter to bits. Access to the heater motor is via the dashboard for my Fiesta. Yup...whole dashboard got to come out. I hightly advise breakers yard for the part and a 3rd party garage to fit it. I saved nearly £200-00 quid and the part came from a sports model. If it is the heater motor, you've got 2 years before it drives you mad. Also, when the heater motor is faulty, blows the thermal resistor that gives you the hot air, and you're stuck with cold air permanently (Ouch for Winter). They are around £40-00 each, and will keep blowing until the heater motor is replaced. I wouldn't like to think what they cost for a VW. You can only get thermal resistors from VW directly, nowhere else, again possibly breakers.

Thats right and with a long warranty of ?10 years Kia and Hyundai lead the way in the JD power survey.
There is no stopping them now that they are headhunting the disenchanted designers from Audi and BMW, but when are they going to improve the interior plastics and materials?...
