Today I again had a halfwit following me at 5pm, in daylight urban traffic giving me the benefit of full beam headlights in the mirrors. The day before on a couple of occasions an oncoming car also had full beams in daylight.
As is often the case when this happens, the steering wheel attendant responsible was a young woman. (Though I have seen male offenders too!)... Read more
Had car serviced today, had to purchase front tyres as they were at the legal limit, however on reading the report there is 'cracking in tread' on the rears.
On inspection there are tiny cracks in the 3 'stripes' that go around each tyre. There are still 5mm of tread left, car is 2.5 years old.... Read more
Mrs S had this problem on her car a few years ago, also Continental tyres, we were told that this is not a new problem and cars that drive low mileages with wheels parked in strong sunlight are more prone to this problem. Perhaps your car is habitually parked with the rear tyres in the sun but front tyres in the shade?
Car failed the MOT so tyres had to be replaced on a distress basis - which is always the costly way to buy tyres....
The DVLA car checker web site is very useful:
Agree with Rob JP.
Bought our first Berlingo in March 2005. It's registration at delivery was KU05 XXX. In May 05 we put it on Mrs B's mother's three letter/two digit plate, Stayed on that until we bought second Berlingo in 2013. That took up the personal plate and Berlingo ! reverted to KU05 XXX....

Have a new model 61 plate 2.2 D-Tec. In Jan '16 had the second MOT and failed on handbrake variable pull. Sometimes 2 notches, sometimes 12+
Traced to faulty/failed caliper not gripping the cable correctly(?). Honda offered £100 towards it (provided I used the Honda Service centre to fix it at £800) so I wnet with a local independent but still cost £500 for one side (part was £260+VAT from Honda). Now some 9 months later I am noticing the fault recurring so am assuming I will now need to have the other side done. At 4 years and only 35k miles and having seen several other Honest John questions regarding the same problem, this is obviously either a design or component fault. ... Read more

I really cannot get my head around some peoples way of thinking when it comes to reliability of cars. Had a chat with someone who said French cars are all junk.
His evidence of this was a friend of his has bought an old (sounds like completely neglected) Clio and has had to buy a new set of tyres, have a clutch fitted and a new timing belt. Now do correct me if I'm wrong but, don't all cars tyres and clutches wear out with age and mileage? Dare I say if the person had used their eyes they might have noticed the tyres were low on tread or perished before they bought the car? Read more
Aston Martin have made one reliable car, their version of the Toyota IQ,which was customised to your person choice and was embellished with the famous badge.
A note about drivers not knowing what the blue light on the dash means. - One evening, while I was living in Zambia a man pushed his car round to my house from the Country Club, round the corner and across the street. He said the battery was flat and asked me to start the car for him. He was a magistrate and the car went with his job. It was a brand new plush model Toyota. I moved my car in front of his, got the jump leads out and the engine started first time. Then I switched the lights on and the engine stopped. The lights were on main beam and the voltage drop was too much for the ignition system. I started the engine again, switched on the dipped headlights and the engine ran sweetly. I told him to drive home, about 40 miles away, on the dipped beam and hopefully the battery would charge up again.
