We run two Renault Clios, which we like but none of our independent garages seem able to do a full diagnostic and reset and our nearest Renault specialist is in another town, 15 miles away.

Renault have protected their franchises with an exclusive protocol, built in to each car's on board computer system, requiring their workshops to have access to dedicated equipment which they have to hand back if they no longer continue dealing with Renault. Our local franchise recently cut their ties with Renault and tell me that they can no longer offer full service to their former customers.... Read more

Hello all

Well i went to available car and found a 2010 ford galaxy 2.0 tdci zetec , 50k miles 3 owners £10k fair price for a galaxy , all was good till test drive, its an automatic and idling in park was good, we gave it some and sounded as normal etc, only from PARK to DRIVE then it started to judder, low revs and then cuts out.

Tried a few times and same thing, once you start moving though it works fine, got plenty of power, smooth gear changing etc , until you slow at a junction, it starts to judder slightly but doesnt cut out, just seems to do it when you first pop it in Drive ..

I have reserved the car awaiting this fix and an mot etc , does anyone have any idea cos im going back next friday unless it sounds serious to anyone and i can get my reserve money back.

Thanks Read more

I bought some Philips X-treme Vision +130% bulbs for my Mk III C5 and whilst the car was in for something else with the local Citroen dealer I asked if they would fit them. The head mechanic (who had worked many years for Citroen) strongly advised against it. He said (something like) the extra brightness would draw too much current and create too much resistance in the lighting circuit and the car's management system would interpret this either as a blown bulb or a short circuit and would close the circuit down. I put this to the people selling the bulbs who replied "We are unable to fully agree with the mechanic's diagnostic as the bulbs run at the same voltage and wattage as standard, therefore should not draw any more power."

Who's right?

Interestingly, since fitting Halfords Ultra Brilliance 120% about 18 months ago, I've had three failures (in the 3 years previous to this, I had none with standard bulbs) so might there may be something in what the mechanic says?

And for good measure, are these easy to fit myself? Judging from other posts/forums, would I need the slender wrists, hands and fingers of a baby and be double-jointed to boot? Has anyone put C5 Mk III bulb change on Youtube? Read more

Good Lord, hope no one visits that dealer with a complicated fault.

We both had Philips Extremes in our cars for probably 5 years, one set (you might call it tight i call it frugal:-) i removed when the car was sold and put them in the replacement, they did good service for another couple of years but appeared to me to have lost their edge as it were, so replaced them with Osram equivalents which were on offer, they were indeed brighter again....

Hi,I have an 2006 1.4 ibiza sport. I bought it with wrecked bonnet and bumpers. I have found an ibiza in the same colour but it is an 2004 1.2 ibiza. I was wondering if there was a slight difference between the body of the two? Would the bonnet and bumpers from the 1.2 fit my sport? I don’t want to drive 40 mins for it to be wrong. Thanks! :) Read more
