I have what has been up to now a very reliable Citroen Xsara Picasso - Deisel (milage 108890) - It now has a few issues, EGR valve (been cleaned once already), Clutch is high and going, NS Hbrake caliper need renewing as does back brakes, and the timing belt will be due at 150000. The MOT is due late summer and P/E (on checking with tool section is roughly £650) the estimate for all in is around £1500 and the debate mmm does one go with it or change vehicle? My milage varies and its very rural and hilly at times. The mechanic recommends to P/E. Its a while since Ive bought direct through the market and my budget is very limited <£2000

Having recently been through almost exactly the same scenario with SWMBO's car, I, overall, also vote to keep your existing car for a while yet.
One can get lucky, and happen upon a car in the £2k price region which is fantastic and will give years of reliable service, but you will likely expend a lot of time finding such a car....

I agree with Eleckie Doc, probably the best solution is to have a new system installed.
I've had a similar problem recently, My remote plip buttons perished, I bought a new case for it and after a short while it just stopped working. Although I can't see anything wrong with the Plip it cannot be re synced to the car and Citroen want silly money for a new one and to re sync to the car so I just bought a new aftermarket unit with 2 Plips....

My neighbour has an X reg 1.3 which is a torque converter auto, so I would imagine yours will be too.
Previously he had a T reg 1.0 which was an automated manual. That managed 100,000 miles before the gearbox failed.
Hi, I am considering buying a used Mitsubishi Outlander but I have read a few times that there is an issue with the crankshaft oil seal splitting and allowing engine oil to contaminate the clutch. This is making me nervous about buying one but I was wondering if anyone knows how common this problem actually is please, is it for instance confined to just one engine type? I have also considered Honda CRV, Ford Kuga, Subaru Forester or Kia Sportage as alternatives so am open to advice regarding these options but the Outlander is still my favourite at this point.
Thanks in advance,
Dave. Read more

Hi I am wondering what the idel speed should be on this car as it seemes a bit low Read more
No need for main dealer.Any good Indy would be able to do the base idle adaption.
Hi thanks for the info, very good of you to help thanks again Ian.
Well I have had this car on a 15 plate for around 5 weeks now. Generally I am happy except for an annoying brake click. When travelling at high (50mph or low 10mph) the brakes work without a click. But if I am braking from say 30 mph then I get a click similar to lightly dropping a ball bearing on a hard surface. The click also happens when I pull away but not at the higher or lower speeds.
The car went in today for this to be investigated and the calipers were greased it has made no difference. I am told that it is normal to get this - however I had a loan Touring Sports hybrid for a few days and that didnt do it nor did my mk1 hybrid auris. Any ideas? Will I have to live with it or is there something else that can be done. Do you think if I asked to test drive another Icon Plus to see if that does it,Is that unreasonable?... Read more
Just to update everyone and thanks for the replies.
My car has been back to the dealer and they have copper greased the pins and outer part of the brake pads and the result is its just the same.Still a single click when braking and a double click when pulling away....

When GM decided to pull Chevrolet out of Europe, they pledged that Opel/Vauxhall would take over servicing and warranty issues.
If you've paid £2,500 to rectify it and it's happened again - your recourse is against the workshop that repaired it and took your money.
Hello all
Ive been driving for almost 2 years now, and i have 4 children , at the moment i have a 2001 zafira auto, cost me 600 last mot and its not going to get any better and my kids are getting bigger by the day.
So any recommendations on a reliable 7 seater, or should i say opinions from experienced folk.
im looking to spend about 10- 11 k, so Make dependant 2009 to 2013 and auto only (im 6'7" and rugby player size, when i tried to learn in manual people kept bringing silly city cars ! Eerrr no chance so i learnt in a merc c class auto..)
Galaxy and smax are ideal and i like but galaxy are expensive unless high mileage ofc, i also like vw touran although the quite drab looking (not important i know) . And zafira tourer seem nice but the middle 3/4 seat !
And all work mates say dont go french although i do like peugeot 5008 lol
