Would like some advice on what car should i get next.... Read more
I have a Peugeot 405 that's running a little hot, the heating has never worked. on Monday I noticed it was running at 110'c. I then ordered a thermostat and heater matrix. Flushed the system and fitted the new thermostat which made no difference.
Wednesday night I painstakingly replaced the matrix! Once that was done I got heat inside the car for the first time! The temp issue improved but is still not ideal, it takes longer to get hot but now sits at 104'C! ... Read more
Took the old rad out and washed it out pushing gunk out with a dips tick, properly drained the system and put it all together and it runs cool now (not put the thermostat back in yet but it's nice and cool). Only issue is now everything is flowing how to should it's showing signs of a failed head gasket... It's one thing after another with this car.
I've just bought a nissan almera 2.2 td 2000 model and it comes with what looks like the spare key did this model have remote central locking feature and if so is there anyway of telling which one seen different fobs on ebay and have read how to reprogram them. Any information would be extremely grateful prefer remote locking saves the paintwork when trying to unlock the car in the dark

If the car did not have keyless remote locking from the factory,it would probably be cheaper to buy an aftermarket keyless entry kit which would come with 2 remotes and have that fitted up to the cdl system
My wife and I currently run a Ford Fiesta as our sole car and I honestly can't fault it, but the newest member of the family is due any day now and we're likely to outgrow it. We can just about squeeze the pram in the boot, but adding in additional bits and pieces that babies require, and a dog and an additional passenger is almost impossible. So we're looking for something a bit bigger.
Ideally we'd like to be able to keep the Dog crated in the boot with room for the pram and shopping etc, leaving the backseats for car chairs and an additional passenger (possibly two). We've been looking at estates, and crossovers, but have limited experience with either. The wife insists on something that's good looking, so Skoda Yeti and Octavia are out (although they seem perfect on paper). She likes the look of Qashqai's, Sportage, Cee'd estate, i30/i40 tourer and Focus estate, I'd like to avoid a diesel as our milleage is limited to 8000k a year. We have around £8000 - £10000 to spend. ... Read more
That's some excellent advice. Thanks all.
My idea of a really beautiful car:
A great car but to my eyes a 1939 Lagonda drophead is even better.
I certainly like this two-tone version:...
Can anyone please help with the radio for my Fiesta. SN is M055971? Many thanks!!!! Read more
just used this for a Fiesta 4500 RDS EON and it worked : many thanks
Been thinking about the Plan B if the car we are trying to get falls through (really complicated buying process and very fussy banks with OTT regultions here).Current cars are a Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP 2009 and a 1.2 (!) Astra estate 2004 (absolutely knackered so needs to go).
If we can't get the engine and spec we want the plan B will be either of the 1.6 petrols from Ford or Vauxhall/Opel in estate form as they are considerably cheaper than other options and shouldn't be a problem to finance with the more than decent deposit we have. Used would end up costing the same per month and would be 4-5 years old at the youngest and I do worry about how they have been treated (I see the kind of cars we're interested in being properly thrashed all the time). Opel have a special deal with quite a few extras on the Astra at the moment as the new model is coming out, just with petrol engines though. The Fords are standard cars but could go top spec with the 1.6 engine. Ecoboosts are getting pricey! Just the 1.0 withn the price range and that would be second trim level up.... Read more
Actually sounds quite good when described like that!
Out of interest do you think it would power a Grand C-Max (previous version) reasonably well? These are just to the top of the budget and Ford locally had a brand new one that was left over after the person who ordered it and for some reason it fell through, nice car and if the 125 BHP 1.6 engine is good enough it could be a back up contender!!...
I have a naza bestari @ peugeot 206. Year 2009 auto transmission. This problem just happened this morning. When i put the gear to D. Suddenly one jerk happened. The car can drive but i think in gear 2 @ 3 @ 4. What exactly my car problem Read more
Do you mean it will not select first gear but other gears are OK? If so it might just be that the autobox has selected the "snow" setting. I understand that this will mean first gear is never selected. The manual will tell you how to deselect the snow setting if its not obvious.

Hello sorry for the delay in reply.
Just to finish this string off, I took the car back to the service centre and they confirm that it is the right exhaust box fitted....
Hiya, bought a 2001 ldv cub last april and it's been relativly trouble free. One day I have no clutch pedal pressure and it turned out the pot was empty, called the rac out and he bled the system at my place. While there he checked my cooling system and it was dry, sold me two bottles of cooling fluid and filled er up job done. Now a month later the cooling fan is blowing off the chart and no fluid again, but no pools underneath. I' ve ordered a thermostat but my brother says if there was no fluid the fan wouldn't work. I'm no mechanic, any ideas?

Coolant loss can be from a lot of different places
and with no other symptoms like fluid under the van or exess white exhaust smoke and with you a paying customer you don't want me doing expensive tests if it were in with me now I do a pressure test on the cooling system and the header TANK CAP....

A plus factor with most hybrids is that you are getting an automatic which is useful if you're commuting into a heavily-trafficed area regularly
