I would start by checking the fuses in the engine bay fuse/relay box.

Having just received my first NIP for 15 years I am interested to see what the liits are, below which one is offered a Course, if eleigible. I think it is a welcome alternative to points on a licence and is also an earner for the Police. I think this why the limits are so generous! In Leicestershire the thresholds are:-

Consumer Protection Act above is incorrect and should read: Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012.

Friend took swmbo for a short break and as he wanted to drive her up the old road which curls around under itself, (i'm sure you know where it is) booked a hire car. Got to the desk late, and no trace of booking, and no one answering on the uk number.

Was offered a car at an extortionate rate, but declined and got the train into malaga.... Read more

There's a formal complaint procedure I learnt about in Spain: Hojas de Reclamaciones.

It's a form to fill in that all outlets have to supply. I've never used it, although I would have done if I'd known about it at the time, but apparently it can have a magical when asked for.

I know it's a bit "left field" but don't overlook the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.2 - a terrific triple turbo engine in a lightweight but large bodyshell - really supple suspension but it also handles well - a bit like a pumped up 205 GTi - I drove one and absolutely loved it. They are cheap to run, comfortable and practical. They are one of those rare cars that feels faster than they are so you can have fun without threatening your licence. They still cruise nicely on the motorway.

I have a Vectra C and have the original set of keys.

Can I ask where is the transponder chip - is it in the key barrel or is it inside the key fob? Remember this is Vectra C and not the old Vectra B.... Read more

You purchased a Vectra C, expect problems and lots of them.

I have a 52 plate Vectra (1.8 i 16v LS 5dr), have 2 keys and have been having issues with one of the keys for past one year, I tried to sort this out today but what has happened today has left me puzzled:

Here is the situation:

Up until this afternoon:

Key 1: doesn't work, Padlock sign on dashboard, buttons completely worn out
Key 2 : emote locking/unlocking doesn't work, but can open & lock doors manually with the key (alarm goes off), can start the car with this Key (have been using it like this for the past few months)

I decided to do something about it this afternoon, started by changing battery in both the keys - used brand new duracell CR2032 batteries.

Found the paper/cardboard trick online and used that as well.

Now:

Key 1: Works!! Remote locking/unlocking works, Car starts. No padlock icon, button still worn out but key works perfectly
Key 2: Padlock sign - and remote locking.unlocking doesn't work (was not working earlier as well), car doesn't start. This is very strange as this key was working up until this afternoon.

Important Information:

1. The red led lights on Key 2 still glow when I press the buttons. Buttons on Key 2 are in a fairly good condition as compared to Key 1.
2. I ordered replacement key fobs from amazon which arrived today tried swapping key 2 to this fob but gave up as buttons are unusable. will send these back. I tried to handle the key and the chip carefully but am fearing that I have ended up damaging it.

The strange part is that the red Led lights on Key 2 still glow when I press the buttons.

One more thing, when I changed the battery in Key 2 and pressed the inner buttons to test the red led was ON all the time (didn't go off) - not sure if this indicated something Read more

Yes, I tried this.

Put the non-working key in the ignition. Padlock icon comes. Pressed buttons on the key. Nothing happens.

Hi, i recently part exchanged my car for another car at a garage... My original car Was on finance and everything was in my mums name as she was the main driver of the car "I was a named driver" anyway when we part exchanged the car my mum signed the finance agreement and I signed the logbook to the new car as we didn't know the car had to be in my mums name as she was on the finance agreement, the dealership didn't explain this either.. He also paid the finance of on my original car we had part exchanged for the new car.
(He chucked the finance papers to my mum and just told her to flick through to sign where was nessisary, didn't show or explain nothing.)

We got home and had a phone call from the finance company to tell us that we couldn't carry on with the finance because i had signed the logbook when my mum should have "we didn't know this" and the garage collected the car the next day and told us we could not have our original car back that we had part exchanged.. So we are now at a loss.

Are we entitled to our original car back ? Read more

I am sure the paper work could have been changed,so that your mum sign thelog book, rather than the finance deal be rejected.

Reguard the insurance. The arrangment as the other poster pointed out is not legal, because in real terms your not insured. This would further be a requirement stated by the insurance company that the car be fully insured. Your mum being the owner and registered keeper of the car is a further requirement.
