Was there ever a UK model of a 1.6 SRI as someone trying to claim there is one. There may have been in Ireland and outside UK Read more

I'm only surmising from my experience of satans box in PSA cars.
There is no Park selection on these boxes, they are after all a manual box that changes gear for you, so for safety you should ideally select first or reverse when you leave the vehicle, just as you would (or should) with the manual version....
Hi All,
My son is 18 and only recently passed his driving test and he has now received a fixed penalty notice for 6 points for driving without insurance.... Read more
Has everyone missed what chris_on_the-gas said? An ANPR camera would not ping if the car was insured, even if an elephant were driving it!
So clearly the vehicle involved was NOT insured at the time of the incident. Which mean both father and son have probably been driving illegally for some time. I accept this may be an inadvertant error, but it seems to be the case. How do the police know who was driving? Was the vehicle stopped there and then? A real muddle this one....
Hi.
Eldest daughter is about to sit her driving test on Monday whilst we're in Spain. 2 questions:... Read more
Thanks for all the advice....she passed!
From an insurance point of view it worked out cheaper just to transfer ownership of the car directly to her rather than having her as the main driver on a car registered in our name....
I was filling my car up this morning and noticed that the petrol pump, next to the read out shoiwng how many litres I put into the tank, had (at 15 degrees C) stuck next to it.
does the tempertue effect the accuraucy of the pumps? If so, how much by? DO I get more in my tank if I fill up on a hot, or cold, day? Read more
Call me the cynic but If ambient temperature really did make a significant difference to the bottom line the oil companies and the retailers would be using heaters (set in their favour of course) on the tanks and pumps.......wouldnt they?
Science says there is some truth in it all but 10 minutes spent in the toilet prior to setting off and the consequent saving in weight would probably be of more benefit.
Recently been having trouble with the whole cooling system, first my thermostat seized up, then several of the pipes blocked up so the rad wasnt warming up and then my heater valve wasn't opening. So i went and fixed all this as well as my car door (the fish eye on my passenger side outer had snapped, awaiting replacement) but after testing etc I've discovered the new heater valve is stuck open, Everything else is fine, pipes are warm, rad is warm no overheating etc. When i change my temperature dial I can't feel or notice any movement in the valve itself, do you think the replacment unit is faulty? any other way to test? I'm guessing take it off and leave the motor attached see if it moves. Or could it be the motor? Read more
I'll have a look tonight once I finish work. How exactly do you flush it both ways?
Disconnect both hoses that go to the heater matrix and use a hose pipe on each one alternately until all dirt and debris stop coming out.

Yeah,
Your presumption is wrong,...
On holiday in North Wales recently, I saw a very rare modern car - a 2011 Saab 9-5 TTiD Aero XWD saloon, one of the new shape ones that was introduced a few months before the company went belly-up.
I wonder how many of those were actually sold in the UK?... Read more
I wonder how many of those were actually sold in the UK?
Have any other BackRoomers seen a similarly rare modern car?...
This morning, on the A14, an HGV took over 3 miles to overtake 3 other HGV. I say over, because the process was still going on when I left the A14. Even a police car with flashing lights couldn'r shift him/her. Sadly he wasn't stopped by the police car, which was obviously on its way to something else, as it left the A14 where I did.
I will be reporting the driver to his/her transport manager. Read more
The issue is dealt with on the A14 with several stretches with overtaking bans for LGVs.
The problem is lack of policing, like so many traffic offences parliament enacts them but cuts police funding....

Was this a private sale or from a dealer?
If from a dealer, take it back for them to fix or reject it and get your money back....

For the 1996 to 1999 Primera the 'sporty' 1.6 was the Si. The SRi was a 2 litre.
In 1998 Nissan also built a limited edition SX in both 1.6 and 2.0 litre versions in celebration of winning the manufacturers and team titles of the BTCC.
