MB use computerised service books. Call them with the reg and VIN number and see if it has ever been serviced by them.
If it has its still under warranty, if it hasn't and there is no other service record I hope the price reflected this fact.

The days of seeing BP or Shell tankers emptying their contents into a supermarket filling station seem to be over, but it doesn't mean the liquid inside them isn't the same
Tankers have more than one compartment & the fuel that is dispensed into them will have various lotions & potions added just before it is dicharged....

I have a very similar behaviour on Scenic II 1.9dci 2007 model....
I am currently overseas for a few days and driving a rented Peugeot 107. With the exception of a few very minor niggles it is all the car a person needs. It is reasonably comfortable, more than able to hold its own at 70+ mph and doing at least 50+ mpg at the same time.
Now, we get all these one time questioners who come on here with pretty much the same story: - they need (want) to change their car and do xxx miles per week commuting and what should they buy. Just worked out my fuel consumption for 220miles. 66.7mpg! at mix of mainly motorway driving and stop star urban driving.
Battery replaced. Radio calling for code. 4 digit code (3195) entered using key 1 x 3, key 2 x 1, Key 3 x 9 etc, 3195 displayed, pressed * button...nothing happened...what am I doing wrong. The instructions I followed came from the handbook as did the radio code. Had car since new, never any problems before...Help!!!

Do you not have to press button "5" to set the code.
NS rear tyre showing signs of wear on outer edge of tread after just 8000 miles. If it was a front wheel I would suspect wheel alignment, but on the rear????? Any ideas anyone before I take it to a dealer. Read more
Look on the kia owners forum, seems to be a few picanto owners on there with the same problem,
started a new message as other top gear posting getting a bit long, thinking of new ideas for the boys on topgear to do that could re-ignite the show a bit and was wondering if any one thinks its possible to drive to the south pole like they did to the north pole a few years ago , or has any one else got any better ideas they could do? In the past 7 days the number of miles shown upon turning the ignition has dropped about 300 miles when I've only driven about 40 this week.

The "miles to service" is a straight countdown, and is reset at the service.
There was a fault with this system on Citroens around 2006-2008, but IIRC a software update fixed it.
