started a new message as other top gear posting getting a bit long, thinking of new ideas for the boys on topgear to do that could re-ignite the show a bit and was wondering if any one thinks its possible to drive to the south pole like they did to the north pole a few years ago , or has any one else got any better ideas they could do?

Drive there from where? With the North Pole you can easily start in Canada and drive north. The South Pole in Antarctica.

And they've done snow drive, why do it again?

The South Pole in Antarctica.

Isn't the Antarctic off-limits except for scientific research (and Rannulph Fiennes)?

I don't like the 'epic' adventures. I like the mundane challenges (buying a 70's British car was a great one). It was entertaining, but there was a point behind it (sort of).

Preferably something that finishes off Hammock. They almost succeeded in an earlier series, but 'thanks' to the Air Ambulance he survived. Quite why they didn't put a match to the car before he could crawl out, or be pulled out, escapes me.

I don't think they've tried delivering battle field weapons such as tanks by parachute.I believe the Scimitar was parachute friendly, so to speak.

Making a hover car, that can act as a hovercraft or a road going vehicle.

Have they reviewed air-cars, which are road going, and can fly?

Have they done anything on the land speed records, and the current attempt by Noble et al?

I don't think they have crossed China, or Australia, by car. Or Japan. They could do Canada, from one end to the other. In Winter there are some nice ice bridges.

Have they convered a vehicle to run on tracks, or skis? What about putting a car on large ribbed tyres, so that it floats, and paddles along.

There are plenty of things to try. Hopefuly some dangerous Hammock unfriendly ones.

Yes -they got a Jaguar XJ6 to pull a 'train' - they swapped the wheels for railway ones! That was very funny. They added caravans etc.

More technical issue whistleblowing would be entertaining, but might stop them getting laoned cars subsequently. Like what's the difference, really, between an A4 and a Passat? Let's see all their parts laid out, with original pricing and sources too.

No, those are rails, not tracks. A tank has tracks. But yes, the railway one was fun. Do you remember the magazine editor/journalist seated on an open carriage, to assess the experience. In front was a 'train' with an outside loo at the end for the riff raff. You can guess the rest.

They have actually crossed Japan as well by the way.
