The last Nissan Micra came of the assembly line at Sundersland last night.
The question is how long do they carry on making spares?... Read more
Hi all,
I looked at the oil quite a few times when running in my new petrol 1.25 59 plate Fiat Ka. It always looked brand new up until the last 2 or 3,000 miles. Then it started to look slightly dirty. Still really clean compared to say a diesel for example though.... Read more
Thanks Boggles.
Somebody else suggested this as well last night as well. I am probably being a bit paranoid I suspect. Exactly the same color though it seems which is a coincidence. Anyway I will assume all is ok for now....

The object of having insurance is to put the claimant in as near as damnit the same position as they were immediatly prior to the loss.
Thus they should be giving you what it would cost to buy the same make & model of the same age & with a similar mileage. Initially this should be based on Glasses Guide retail value but as I'm typing this neither of us know what this is....
Have had a quote for a vauxhall Zafira (56 Reg) Auto Gear Box for £2,500 including labour which seems a pricey - do you think this is the norm? Read more
Hi there, I am new here so I hope I have posted in the right place. Back in August, I was hit from behind by a van. My insurance really messed me around and eventually my car went into repair with their approved garage. The only damage from the accident, was the bumper being damaged, not major. The car already had dents at the front and some scratches.
The car was a cat c write off and I brought my car back. I was told I would need a new mot and vic check done. The car passed the mot but then my inurance informed me on 3 occassions that I would not need the vic check done. They told me once the car had been mot'd then my cover would go back up to fully comp. However, my insuarnce then phoned to tell me I was no longer covered until I had the vic check done. I complained and told them what I was told by other members of staff and was then told I was covered third party only.... Read more
On the tax issue as long as the vehicle is continuosly taxed you should be OK. You should have commenced the new tax at November. I would show the old tax disc until the end of October and put the new disc in on November 1st.
I think you would be able to successfully argue that insurance was in place until the VIC takes place (subject to passing) but if they have notified you that it is not then it is a tricky issue. Get the VIC done asap. The fee is £41. Borrow it if necessary as not doing so adds complications you don't sound like you need.
Can anyone tell me how can I change the user name in this forum?

You have to be careful labelling "electric" as a gimick. Forget all the eco stuff and the range issues, an electric motor has many advantages over a petrol engine. The main one is potential perfomance, an electric motor delivers full torque from 0RPM!
I have a 2004 Toyota Avensis auto with 127000 miles on the clock. The idle tickover runs at about 400 RPM and the car sometimes stalls. My mechanic ( an indeoendant ) tells me that he cannot adjust the idle speed. Does anyone know if this is correct? Read more
If it’s had a new battery then it either needs to relearn to idle correctly as mine did which took it a few days weirdly enough but it went from idling at around 400rpm back up to normal around 700-750rpm. I believe some older models need to be reset following a procedure which is shown on videos on YouTube.
Parts for early 20 year old Peugeot 106s are still freely available- even from dealers (although some to order).
.History suggests after 20 years convoluted engine hoses may become a problem on older cars as the manufacturing volumes required make them uneconomic......
