I have a 2008 Mazda 6 and tonight I left the (daylight running) lights on to pop into Tesco's. Couldn't have been more than 10 mins, but when I came back, it almost didn't start. I have not used the car much in the past two weeks, but surely that couldn't cause the problem? Read more
You can soon run a battery down if it continues and your not happy ask the garage to do a discharge test after all its still under warranty.
I'm going round in circles trying to decide between these two cars and wondered if anyone here could offer some insight.
I'm looking for a cheap to run small family car for me and my wife and two kids, 10 and 12yrs. We do about 16k miles/year, a lot of it in built up areas, commuting to work. We have up to £8.5k to spend at a push but would rather spend £6k.... Read more
Hi
I owned a 2004 Honda Civic 1.6se 5dr for 5 years and would recommend one to anyone. The space and legroom in the back are excellent and not cramped even with the front seats fully back. The mpg averaged about 42 on mixed runs and around 55mpg when sat at 55-60ish on the motorway, matching my friends Seat Altea 2.0tdi. I used it to tow a folding camper (650-900kg) all around the UK and France and it performed really well. Also 100% reliable. Only issue I had was that the front tyres would spin too easily in the wet but this may have been down to the tyres-not sure. I replaced it with a 2.0 accord tourer so we could tow a caravan....
My 11 month old VW Eos 2.0 SE Tdi has a fault affecting the 5th gear synchromesh. The car was purchased new by me and has covered 8000 miles. My dealer proposes to remove the gearbox and replace the synchromesh. Is it normal to strip and repair or should I expect a replacement gearbox? Read more
I suspect a synchro cone has cracked and I would press for a replacement gearbox and contact VW HQ to insist on this. These cones are hardened high quality steel and can shed highly abrasive particles if they break. Normally VW garages do not take on GB stripe downs and ship them off to a GB specialist. Hi, can you please advise me, I ordered a Hyundai ix35 on 15th May, with an expected delivery date of 31st July.
When I placed the order the dealer agreed a part exchange price for my old car which he put in writing on the invoice, with the outstanding balance due to be paid at the time of delivery. (less my £500 deposit). Have been told the car has just arrived in the UK and should be with me in a couple more weeks, however dealer is now implying that he will not honour the original part ex price which I have in writiing on the invoice, my car is in the same condition it was when he agreed the price - can he do this ? can't say too much, but tapping my nose with my finger, a little bird tells me that the delivery problem of new IX 35;s is common knowledge and Hyundai themselves are offering £500 worth of free accessories as a sweetner - (nudge nudge wink wink)- contact Hyundai customer services if your dealer isn,t responsive to this. cheers
Engine starts then immediately stops, i.e. will not continue to run. The rev counter does not move off the stop and the engine management light does not light. Ppossible causes? Engine speed sensor? Read more
I have a question, and am hoping anyone can help as im now worried sick.
Our car is registered in my partners name, and last year i went through the congestion zone without paying the charge.... Read more
Pay what you can to show willing - needs to be a credible amount - not just £5 or so - I would suggest £40 minimum. Then clear the rest as quickly as you can so as to give everyone the clear indication that you are attempting to deal with it.

Autotrader say 444 litres with seats down.
I've had 2 of these a few years back and remember taking a family of 5 camping in them with no bother. The glass opens on its own allowing you to stuff the lower half of the boot to bursting point, close the tailgate then fill the rest through the window - brilliant. ...

not sure about purchasing elsewhere, but even if you can your mechanic to do it he still needs the peugeot hardware to reset it not just any diagnostic equipment.
like i said check on the peugeot central website. someone on there has the right equipment but i think he is in the yorkshire area or check your local area for a peugeot specialist ( not the dealers) they may have right equipment i think it is called 'planet'...
I recently attended a technical paper on "diesel bugs" as they are commonly known, given by a gentleman from UK who researches such matters. He related an incident that he had recently with his new diesel vehicle when refuelling at quote a major supermarket netwrok that sells its own brand fuel unquote. They sell the new ultra-low-sulphur-diesel mandated by the EU for next year, including the bio-fuel proportion.
His problem appeared to be that his car fuelling pipe kept blowing back and triggering the handpiece shut-off, so he went back to the supplier and complained. Not so, says the supplier after trials, so back to the supermarket. Using his credentials, he got to be present when the supply lines were opened up. UGH !! The filters were blocked with gunge that resembled yellowish grease. In his laboratory, the stuff turned out to be yeast which had violently multiplied. Investigation showed that yeasts love bio-fuels and, in the presence of only a small amount of moisture [ far less than the usual diesel bugs,] the yeasts multiply.... Read more
Hi, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the above subject but i'll go ahead and ask anyway.
Bio-fuel is now at 7% at the pumps as confirmed by Shell and other leading stations & as an example my handbook for my Mazda 6 2008 2.0d (with DPF!!) says do not fill the tank up with NO more than 5% bio-fuel as it can cause sever engine damage. Now, one time the dealer told me to use the "more expensive" fuel such as BP Ultimate as its better for your engine....
Yes perfectly ok
