I want to install a telephone recorder that records selected calls I make, in the way that banks and other confidential services use them and easy to engage or disengage. When engaged, I want the recordings to go to my computer hard disk (presumable via USB?). Can anyone kindly a) recommend suitable models and b) say if such devices can be used legally without a warning message please?

I have a Fiesta whose heater stopped working and only blew cold air. I changed the coolant valve and now it will not switch off- blows hot all the time.

I checked the power at the valve end with the ignition on and the contol fully on and it registerd 12v, the same as when the control is in the closed position. Does this mean I now have a problem with the control unit. Read more

more than likely, the heater valve has a 12v feed and the earth is controled via the panel it is a pwm (Pulse Width Modulation earth) and you wont see the signal with a dmm or trest light the only way would be with a scope however that said the usuall culprit is the heater control unit these fail almost as much as the heater valves themselves,Regards TB

You can check the alternator by connecting a volt meter across the battery, it should read around 14 volts with the engine running.

My sister has a Honda CBF650, and the main stand seems to have seized. It will move 1/4 way down, but it won't go any further.

I have a 2009 Auris 1.33 which uses 0W-20 oil, and I want to purchase a litre for topping up. Does anyone know of a branded oil of this viscosity? I've looked at Mobil 1 - but they don't do a 0W-20 for the UK. Read more

I have just bought a 2006 SEAT Ibiza 1.8T FR with only 16,000 miles on the clock. On smooth roads it handles very well, but on poor, irregular road surfaces with small bumps/ripples or poorly maintained tarmac the handling becomes excessively skittish, to the point where it doesn't actually feel safe. the best way I can describe it is that it then feels as though the suspension is not completely connected to the car...

My question is: is this just a handling characteristic of the SEAT Ibiza, or does this point towards potential problems and something I should be worried about? I still have some warranty left. Read more

I was about to say the same, what are the tyre pressures? You may find it benificial to lower them a little unless you are driving with a full load.

I was getting the following error code on my wifes 1.4 vw lupo and the coolant seemed low. This would also explain why the car was running rich. (quite smelly)

wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00522

I cleaned out the old coolant, flushed and burped the system with 50/50 red coolant.

I also took out the G62 sensor and cleaned and put back and cleared the code. I checked the wires and notice that the black plastic tubing that held the wires had perished a bit.
The wires inside looked fine so I just taped up the small hole in the tubing with electrical tape, and mad sure it wasn't touching the engine block.

I'm going to replace the G62 sensor when the shops open.

That error code hasn't poped up yet. (only run the engine for 5 mins)

I ran the car at 2k revs until the rad fan kicked in to get any air locks out of the system.
Now when the rad fan comes on at 90 degrees, there is a really loud screeching sound.

Is this coincidence or something I did? Could the sensor be causing this loud noise. I haven't got a new one yet, I removed the bottom RAD pipe to empty the system. Maybe the fluid could have go on something (nothing really beneath the bottom hose of the rad)

Coolant is just below the min line when cold and just above the max, when at this temp.

Do you know what it could be? I've check the rad fan and it isn't rubbing on anything. Is there anything else that comes on when the rad fan spins up?

I don't see how that noise can be related to fluid, unless it there is another pump that also comes on when the fan spins up.

It is really loud, do you think I should drive it to a garage or get towed Read more
