Hello All,
Does anyone know of a website that provides actual real world fuel economy figures? - probably submitted by users (this website is very useful for the cars that have been test driven - but they don't include all models as it would probably take up too much time :-) ).... Read more
Hi,
Does anyone know if it is absolutely necessary to have this done everytime a new set of front tyres are put on?. Is wheel balancing enough? Read more
>>I reckon power steering tends to scrub the outside edges
How's that?
Hi, We had our new car supagarded 2.5 months ago and one panel is really dirty - the rain, dirt runs off everywhere else except this one panel which is very dirty. Also when it was first done I think this panel felt 'different' to the rest. Supagard say 'does it face into the wind'!!!!!! They say some-one may get back to us or not in the next 2 days if they deem it to be a warranty problem. How can they even tell if it is a warrenty problem if they won't look at it despite it supposedly having a 3 year warrenty. All we are saying is that maybe this panel was missed when the product was put on. No one seems to want to be bothered with this despite us paying 300 pounds for it. Supagard said we should buy some more of their product to put on but as we said - 'why should we - we have just paid 300 pounds'.
Any advice as to any thought on why this panel looks so different to the rest of the car would be much appreciated.... Read more
Hi, Thank you all for your messages and help. Supagard came through and a valeter has just been to rectify the problem. The one panel had been missed as we had thought and the valeter has done a very professional job in rectifying it all. But - Supagard does need to have a better system in place to deal with this (or maybe we were just unlucky with the first person we spoke to). But great - the car paintwork not only looks different but feels different now. The car dealer was useless but Supagard did helpe after a few calls.
Thanks again for all the messages and support. Much Appreciated.
I have a 2005 Skoda Fabia 1.2. 21000miles. Within the last month all three coil packs have failed (separately) and been replaced. Can I rely on them now, or do these go regularily. (trying to find out if they were just a faulty batch or this is a continuing problem)

Hi, some of you may have read I bought a new Varta E11 battery for my car in the depths of winter. It was frequently down to -30c here in Latvia and the new battery helped a great deal. (It still cranked for over 40 seconds before starting though, so you can see why I needed a new battetry).
My question is for any battery experts out there.... Read more
Yes, I guess when batteries are shipped from new, they aren't left on charge, or even get another charge before you buy them.
Based on that, and your appreciated feedback, I'll keep it warm and dry and stored off the concrete ground. A top-up charge every 2 months should see me with a battery to conquer next Winters -30c temps !!!...
I have a 2000 Audi Allroad with roof rails. What do I need to buy in order to get bikes on the roof? I assume I need to buy some roof bars plus a bike rack that fits to them, anyone know of any good suppliers / makes?

Have you tried Halfords for a kit? or the dealers?
I admit it may be me, but I've just tried to write a message using the "Blockquote" icon at the bottom of the message box
It gives me a blue line to the left of the message box, but then as I move the line return key on the keyboard the blue line just keeps following me down... Read more
What was wrong with QUOTE or " " ?
It was not as pretty.
When I start my Signum there is a tapping sound for about 5 seconds from under the dash on the passenger side, someone has suggested it's the recurculation flap stepper motor, does anyone have experience of this and what's involved in repair? Thanks in advance, John Read more
Try asking over on www.vectra-c.com
Someone will bound to know the answer over there.
The car was first registered Sept 08 and has run brilliantly until January 2010. It has been a nightmare, feeling as though a wheel is buckled or terribly out of balance. However, the feel changes with each trip, but always feels like a wheel tyre problem. I have had the wheels and tyres checked and it does not appear to be the problem. I have spun the wheels round on a jack and not much brake binding or disk distortion. My wife nor my garage can discern my problem!!!
In desperation I changed from filling up with diesel at my local Supermarket to a BP station, putting 2/3 tank of regular diesel to fill up. Almost immediately the car is running smoother, not quite as well as 3 months ago, but is this because I still had 1/3 of a tank of previous fuel. Will continue to run out the old fuel and top up with the BP and see what transpires.... Read more
Wheel balance problems that keep changing charactaristics are usually due to both wheels being out of balance as the errors go in and out of phase depending on the relative positions of each wheel. I can't see how changing fuel can have any relavance to that fault, in fact in over thirty years of driving diesels I have never noticed any difference between fuels - I think its probably more to do with your blood sugar level at the time

Thanks all for the further input. It would seem that the 1.9pd engine is well liked.
Although, the usually bulletproof almera took a turn for the worse today and failed spectacularly with the front nearside suspension coil shooting out of its housing and into the tyre :-(. Luckily I had just reached home 5 minutes previously before it went with a large bang. I cannot think about what would have happened if it had gone earlier when on the motorway.
