Hi,
on my Vectra I got the emissions warning light on.
From OBD I read the error P0100 = Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Malfunction
Looking at the live data the only strange values were:
- "Air flow rate" always shows 0g/s
- "Calculated Load" is always 0%
I assume that the problem is the MAF sensor or wiring.
Is there any other possible reason for this?
THANKS

Hi All ,
My wife's A150 rear washer pipe has popped off and water it coming out of the tailgate and I don't know how to get the inside panels/trim off, I don't want to destroy or break them in the process. Has anyone had to do this or can give me some advice. Also I can't find a Haynes manual on any A class, is there an alternative apart from going to a vastly overpriced Merc dealer (£90+/hr) ?
Thanks from Chris Read more
I have had dealings with the local Merc dealer with the last A 140 we had and the quote for fixing known rear and front suspension problems was very expensive for the front and to grease the pins holding the top of the rear seat to stop the knocking in the rear, this was after they test drove it. I went to an independent garage and they showed me the worn parts in the rear suspension on the ramp and then quoted me half the price of the Merc garage and fixed front and rear faults. So now I have no faith in the local Merc dealer.
...in the UK over the past decade", according to a headline in today's Sunday Telegraph. It does not say how many worldwide but suggests that one worldwide reason is that there are now so many components shared with so many brands and models, so, if one is wrong on one of them, it may well affect many more in many countries.
They should come with a warning on the package, "Cars can seriously damage your health". To stretch the analogy with fag promotion restrictions further, advertising of cars should be banned and maybe brand names should be concealed. Then we need a film from Michael Moore showing how governments benefit from this deadly industry, via taxes.
I wonder what the recall figures are for commercial vehicles? Read more
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could clear up a few things about a new to be driver?
My son is 16 and will be 17 in May. He has the promise of a job if he passes his driving test for a car before July. He is on the road on a 50cc moped at the moment to get a bit of road knowledge. I have undertaken a booking for a week of driving lessons when he is 17. Would he be able to sit his car theory test before he is 17? If he does and fails what is the timespan before he resits it. This would help him time wise as it will be a lot for him to do, what with his college work etc. Ive looked at the Gov.uk website but cant find anything on ages. Thank you...Gordon. Read more
Thanks for the replies. Ive got him booked in for the theory test 2 days after his birthday. If he fails this how long does he have to wait before he can resit it?
Listening to a few firemen will teach you that occasionally a human being is faced with a life or death decision. One story I heard on the telly was about how a fireman had to keep a door closed to impede the spread of a fire in an HMO whilst the residents upstairs could escape through the front door. This was despite him knowing that there was someone on the other side who was right next to the fire - and dying.
Sobering thought eh?
Consider this. You are driving in a 30mph zone, within the speed limit and you are a few metres away from an elderly gent who is on side of the road. You know that you have the room to pass him so you position the car to do so.
When you are a cars length from him a group of children on the other side of the road, jokingly pushes one of their number into your path - feet infront of you.
You have an instant decision to make. You will hit either hit the elderly gent or the kid
Which would you choose - and why?
This thread isn't about safe driving, as I'm sure many of you would argue that the driver should have been driving with due care etc. This is about being faced with a terrible dilemma, literally finding yourself in a situation where you have to make a choice. Read more
I did once, many years ago, enter a scenario that could have resulted in an accident.
I was driving the transporter in an urban road approaching a zebra crossing. There were children waiting to cross on the other side and a large vehicle xcoming towards me had virtually stopped for them.
What he did not notice, was that he was being overtaken by a fairly fast car. The kids stepped off the kerb as they saw I was slowing. I saw the car put my hand on the horn and carried on across, making the kids jump back. I crossed as the overtaking car, invisible to them, did.
He was totally wrong in his actions but I suppose it might have been me who got a pull for that one...if seen.

the heater fan keeps going after ignition is turned off .It does turn off by the heater fan switch but if you forget to turn off switch it will keep going until the battery is drained . many thanks Read more
I would suspect that you have a faulty ignition switch or possibly a relay.
What on earth does he mean you're thinking. I've just been looking at photos of the snowstorm in the US, on the BBC web site and all of the parked cars have their windscreen wipers lifted, as you would if you were cleaning the screen. What's that for? It'll stop them freezing to the screen but by the time you've cleared the snow off the heater would have sorted that out. Odd.

Lifting the wipers to avoid them freezing to the screen seems a very sensible idea.
However in our chav ridden country it doesn't take much imagination to see what would
happen to a street full of cars parked thus...
That's what I initially read the word "lifted" to mean :)
over christmas my rear brakes stuck and would not release so we changed the rear brake pads and now my hand brake wont work, can anybody help me Read more
