When I turn the stalk to activate the rear screen wash, the rear windscreen wiper goes, but the water comes out of the front jets. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix this? Thanks Read more

Hmm. Probably just been to the body shop...

If the converse applies, just swap over the 2 pipes coming from the screenwasher pump. The washer motor runs in either direction as selected by the washer switch in order to pump water from the required outlet. This avoids the need for 2 pumps.

When I sent off my (paper) full car driving licence I also had the entitlement to ride a moped.

When I got a photocard licence back I'd lost this entitlement.

Does having a full car licence still give you the automatic right to ride a moped (without L-plates) or have the rules been changed? Read more

expensive little game there is a charge for a lost licence also strictly if you
find a licence you previously declared as lost you are supposed to return it.

Forum Ask MID
CGNorwich

Just renewed my insurance and checked that showing on MID.

Notice that there is also a facility on the site to check third party registration numbers if involved in accident. You need to pay £3.50 and you will receive on screen the insurance details: policy number, name of insurer and the claims contact details to help you progress a claim.

Don't recall this was there last time I looked Read more

The last time that I was unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, I got all that information from my own insurance company for free when I reported the event.

No need to pay £3.50 to Askmid for the same thing!

Hi all, a family member is on the forum and recomended I post my problem up here. Here's the scenario:

Bought the car in late December, my attention was drawn to new brake discs and pads but a missing aerial and dodgy central locking. Fair's fair £1500 later and it was mine. I have driven maybe 800 miles, but it has been laid up in a car park (secure, work) in the recent snow for about 3 weeks while I was out of the country.

I come back and notice a knocking sound from the rear d/s wheel. Probably just a bit of rust thinks I, but it can't be got rid of on the drive home. Dropped it into a local garrage and got the report back this afternoon.

Requires new disks and pads all over - a rear caliper havs totally seized up and the discs look like the have been sat in the sea for a year. Could this corrosion really occur in the recent bad weather, to new brakes? The garage mechanic thought it possible if they were not fitted right (not enough grease???).

Front N/S CV joint has rusted through and snapped, killing an ABS (reluctor??) ring.

Rear N/S wheel bearing has gone completely. Having just checked the MOT history it was advised there was 'play' on the bearing on a MOT failure 6 days before the dealer resubmitted it and got it passed. The pass cert had no advisory though - could it have been missed, or would it have been fixed? Just don't like that it had been spotted to be iffy, and then fails on me.

I advised the dealer of the faults and they are having their mechanic take a look at it, but I should expect to pay for parts myself.

I would really appreciate some advise on what I should expect. Is it reasonable not to expect to shell out to fix these faults a car I've only had a month and a half? Even in poor weather with snow and grit in the mix things should things have died this quickly?? Read more

Im reckoning on a cost of approx £6-700 to fix these problems was this bought from a garage a 1998 car or private?

If a garage i reckon they will get out of it with wear and tear but it should be fit for the road, if private you don't have a leg to stand on sold as seen.

The discs will corrode if left for 3 weeks in damp weather they can be rubbed with emery cloth or skimmed but it all depends on the amount of wear a picture for us would help?

As for the caliper yes they do seize there is a lot of work there to fix and the bearing play have you had a quote for this repair and was this at a independent garage or a fast fit?

Decided to renew online for the first time. Went online Sunday afternoon, the new disc was delivered this morning (wed). You would not have noticed by the envelope that it was from DVLA, so that's a good thing. I found this easy to do. Good result. Anyone else done it this way. Anyone had any probs. Read more

>>> I understood train drivers were randomly tested for drink, if not drugs. <<<

A must, in my humble op.
He has been an Alcoholic & a train driver for over 20 years but - he's never had any 'incidents' in that time.
An addict needs his/her drug of choice - just to be 'normal'.
I know for certain that he would have been over the d/d limit on numerous earlies.

Hi folks,
Just wondered if someone could give me some advice please? My Primera 1.6 SRi stopped today suddenly whilst driving. It wouldn't start again and I called the AA. Patrolman said there was no spark & couldn't fix the problem so towed me to Nationwide Auto Centre where they had a look at it. Hours later I got a call to say it would need at new distibutor at a cost of £700 something fitted. After I picked myself off the floor I began to wonder if distributors fail like this or could it be something simpler, like a coil or relay somewhere? How difficult is it to fit a second hand or refurb distributor if it really is this? I'm an amateur with some knowledge/experience.
I can't afford that sort of money and besides which the car's only worth £500 tops.
Anything from you guys would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance. Read more

Highly likely this is the fault, source a second hand one at a fraction of the cost.
