04 1.8 Car will not lock,buzzer sounds like key no - loadsofpugs
Hi a friend has this problem, when she turns engine off & removes key opens door alarm sounds to say key in lock & she cannot lock the car. I did spray WD40 down lock & this cured it for a while but it is back again. Is this the lock barrell or is it more serious?
Any help much appreciated

Yes, you are on the right track here.The centre of the ignition barrel needs to spring out when the key is removed to release the microswitch in the end of the igniton switch.This tells the central lock system that the key is removed and allow the remote locking to work.It may require the ignition barrel to be removed from the lock to enable it to be cleaned and lubricated more thoroughly.hth

Hi again have just taken lock barrel out but buzzer still sounds there is a small plunger at the bottom but that is free.I think it may need further dismantling
