Hi a friend has this problem, when she turns engine off & removes key opens door alarm sounds to say key in lock & she cannot lock the car. I did spray WD40 down lock & this cured it for a while but it is back again. Is this the lock barrell or is it more serious?
Any help much appreciated Read more
I have had trouble with my citreon 2.0hdi dispatch
Traced fault to possible tank pump.
Seen quite a few posts re tank pumps falling get new one
Word of caution Check electrical connector near front of tank coming from main loom, its total crap design my 3 year old has corroded wires 2 of them, you could miss them as connector design is so bad it lets water in
check the 2 thick wires both sides of connector.
LOOK CLOSELY ITS EASY TO MISS i nearly got conned into new pump.
Another one on top of tank but thats less likely.
Vans getting sold as i have seen most electrical connectors are same design. Bet in a few years they will be nightmare with electrical faults . Read more

Probably similar to other police-based programmes? I'll be watching anyway... Read more
Its a no brainer really is it not.
The only "no brainer" here is the person who makes daft suggestions like that. Apart from the fact that the maximum permitted speed on a canal is the walking pace of a horse, most canal boats have a smaller payload space than a small removal van. Even if you kicked all the pleasure craft off the canals, and replaced them with modern narrow-boats (an oxymoron in itself!) it wouldn't make a ha'porth of difference.
Hello all, long time no post.
Just wondering about the forthcoming service for my CR-V and came across NSN www.nsn.co.uk/ . Has any one used this outfit and (without shaming etc) had good experiences?
Their pricing looks competitive and they collect etc.
Note they state that using them will not vaildate your warranty. Am wondering if this would still apply to my Honda used warranty which still has a few months to run. Read more

No, their pricing defintely does not look competitive for a 2003 A4 1.9tdi.
'Interim Service' (oil & filter plus some checks) for £145? That's very expensive, especially given that the work would be done by an independent. My local independent would charge somewhere between £70 - £90 depending on the oil I wanted. Even Nationwise Autocentres would charge only £99.
Code read for £32.50? The last time I asked for a code read and reset, it took only 5 minutes. Not sure why that should cost £32.50.
Also, you can't actually make a 'confirmed' booking fully on line. Even after going through the whole process you would need to be contacted to arrange an actual date for the work. So, doesn't really save you any time.
As far as I can see, the company is acting as an agent and I'm not convinced about the garages being 'centrally controlled' or how stringently or regularly they themselves actually inspect garages.
had to tell a small lie as kangoo van wasnt listed.basically its a 1.5 dci van thats been run without oil and seized.ive been told two differnet stories about buying a new engine 1:that only the engine out of the van will fit ie not out of a clio etc. 2:that as long as the starter motor is in the same position(back/front) any 1.5 will fit.can anyone confirm the correct situation for me.chers dave Read more
Can anyone recommend a Jag specialist in the Midlands area? Im having problems with my central locking not working. Apparently this is a common problem on jags with either the locks sticking or the PC board gone.
Thanks Read more
Westpig, I managed to solve the problem by opening and closing the central locking via the drivers door internal button about 20 times. I think it freed the locking. How long this 'fix' will last Im not sure.
Well, yesterday I had driving test again. Last test was 37 years ago. I went for a hackney carriage / licensed hire test at the local DSA test centre. Basically its the standard driving test with added taxi type manouvres (lots of turning round in the road, and pulling up at the side of the road, with taxi type questions at the end)
I did no swotting up, and just booked and went blind. (for the pedants here, I passed the eyesight test)
Came out with a pass and 1 minor (failed to recognise the level croissing with no gates sign)
Relieved. My son would have extracted the you know what had I failed!
I may or may not go for a taxi license - depends on how bored I get. Read more
I would guess that taxi rank is controlled by Network Rail and not the council.
A tip in Manchester at night is never ever go to the taxi rank, walk down Oxford Road towards All Saints and you will be spoilt for choice over taxis. I usualy get the bus though.
As for test I know there is no requirement to it in 3, but I was driving a Clio III so there was really really no excuse. It took me about two minutes to complete and thats why I was marked down. It was purely because of nerves. Amazingly I did parrerel parking and passed that with no minors and I don't even know how to it now!
EML came on a couple of weeks ago, so did the paperclip test and got P0115 fault code (temp sensor circuit malfunction). I fitted a new coolant temp sensor friday evening and the eml went away but came back approx 24 hrs later. Did the paperclip test again and got the same code. Is it possible the code needs wiping and all would be well? And could I do this by disconnecting the battery or would I need to get it done with a tech2? During the 2 weeks the eml was on it did disappear a couple of times but only for a short while each time (approx 10 mins). Many thanks in advance. Read more
Does anyone look out for interesting motors - or events around such and consider a sort of - video post, or thread?
I thought it might be a new angle - with care over the subject, obviously - and given that many mobile phone can take a clip and post it.
For myself, we are out in the Orient again shortly and I thought I might try to get a clip of that imported ex Star Wars vehicle (do you remember the still, I posted?) cornering.
Do you ever see anything worthy of filming? and if you missed the chance, would you like to describe it?
I thought two parts to this thread
1) Things seen worthy of a video clip
2) How and where to upload to - from a WiFi enabled phone
Any thoughts?

Thank, PU.
Can`t get Utube to work on the E63 though - the s60 v3 plug in is not suitable and I`m reluctant to update the firmware following reading the Nokia forums. (shudder)
Might have to transfer it to the notebook first...
Don`t you all think `tech` would be more interesting with video clips of engine sounds and problems - even if they have to be off site?
And `discussion` with illustrations?
For example i wrote a thread about `Killer Trees` on one of our local roads a couple of years back (following council planting at the road edge) and some have been smashed down since. Inevitably deaths will follow as the trees become more substantial in years to come.
Would viewing the road from the car in a video clip make a story like that more interesting?
