The fuse for l/h side and tail light keeps blowing (fuse #47). I've just replaced the 2nd new fuse now as well as trying new bulbs. I have not replaced any other bulbs recently nor has anything been changed / replaced recently, its just happened over the last week.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers. Read more

Hi mate

Did what you said and found a bit of corrosion on the terminals which I cleaned off. Also, one of the clips on the underside of the light cover which holds the terminals in place had snapped so there wouldn't have been a good connection. Soon sorted that, new fuse in and everythings working again now.
Thank you so much for your help, didn't think to check the number plate lights.

I was given a 09 plate Micra automatic as a courtesy car while my car was being serviced and it was a truly dreadful thing to drive, i couldn't wait to return it !

Caught the tail end of a discusion on the wireless tonight, apparantly you can now get insurance against misfuelling. Wouldn't bother myself, but in view of the cost involved with modern diesel engines perhaps it isn't a bad idea if you are of an absent minded nature.

Anyone else heard of it?

What's so difficult about reading the word "DIESEL" ? After all, it's invariably written on the inside of the fuel filler cap, and it's written on the handle of the fuel pump. What more do you need? Has common sense gone out the window, or is it just a sign of people rushing around and not paying attention?

Hi, can anyone help me with this problem?

My car is pulling to the right, only on acceleration. Braking and at constant speed it is fine. I took it the the garage and they said the front bushes need replacing. The car is still pulling to the right after these were replaced.

Today, the back right suspesion snaped when i was driving it. Could this have been the cause of the car pulling to the right hand side when accelerating? or is it a separate problem.

Thanks

Hello! :)

I'm having a small problem with my Peugeot 406 2.0i from 1996

The clutch isn't doing its "magic", and I'm wondering if anyone of you know if the clutch to this car is hydraulic or by wire.

There's this arm attached to a string, or a wire if you like, which makes me think it's a wire clutch.

But here's the thing, the people down at Peugeot says this type of car has a hydraulic clutch.
But, I don't see any container for the fluids.

So, does anyone have a clue?

Nah, it's your basic push clutch, so no fiddling about with special tools or anything.

I've recently been asked my thoughts about the Nissan QX by someone thinking about buying one. I know nothing about them, other then they're big and often minicabbed, so I turned to CBC. Nix. Is this the only car HJ hasn't got any info for? I was slightly taken aback! Am I being myopic? Read more

If you delve back a couple of years into the past of the Backroom you'll find quite a few posts on the QX. One fairly well regarded poster in particular had one which he seemed to like.

Looks like the half-hearted attempt at reviving MG with a design going back over 15 years has come to a resounding (and unsurprising) halt.

It seems the naysayers were right. How many new MG TFs has anyone actually seen? Read more

hi i have driven and had toyota mr2s a mazda mx5 and a test drive in a 2005 demo mg tf and i found the mg a fantastic car its not super fast but it was well built with the new rear glass screen and i found the looks a lot better than an mx5. I know there have been reliability problems in past mgfs but i really think that before mg demised and with bmws help that the tf was a better car.as to the new nanjing mgtf which online road test of the new mg gave it a very good report and with the new n series engine they have sorted the old head gasket problems, the thing is i would buy an mg anytime over a nissen micra a shame i think that mg bought that orange colour out i think it was a big mistake but in blue or the other colours its a good looking car.

Starting off to work today in the dark , I noticed the Bolero display on my FL Octavia was too dim to be seen comfortably. When the sun came up the display brightened to a satisfactory level.
I've tried the obvious display menus but can not effectively change the night time display brightness ( there are settings from dark to brightest). The panel light dimmer does not affect the display. The manual does not seem to address this adjustment.

Asked on Briskoda but not really got to the bottom of the adjustments.
Have made an adjustment but I'll just have to wait for my next dark start to test it.

Hello, please excuse my ignorance in this area, though l would be very grateful for any advice & opinion.

The Alhambra 1.9tdi has been extremely reliable over the past near four years. Though there is nearly 168, 000 miles on the clock, it has a full service history & runs fine.

However, over the past few months, under conditions of low excelleration, l have noticed what l can best describe as "pinking" a metallic creaking until the car has reached a faster speed.

Is this something that a diesel would do?

Views gratefully sought as to cause & any actions needed.
