Like how come I run a TDI Galaxy to 206,000
Origionally on tractor oil being Case No1, changed every 5000k, with proper Knect filter
then somewhere about 100,000 miles
changed to semi synthetic, no particular brand, bought at random, to VW spec from motor Factors
& changed every 10,000, with filter as above( maybe a Framm filter bytimes)
Its a 110 tweeked to 125bhp
i am diligent about checking the dipstick and topping up
A wee drip due to a crankshaft oil seal
Origional injectors & head gasket & exhaust too
OK

You'll be able to see the tree even if you can't steer round it. ;>)

Hi again. The gearstick has developed a faint, but audible squeaking sound when changing gears and also when in neutral. The gears themselves change as normal (though a bit cluncky!). Just curious as to whether the squeak is a precursor to a bigger, impending problem or whether there's something I can do to help (quick spray of WD40 ?). I only have very basic maintenance skills.

As always, thanks in advance. Read more

Presumably anyone who boughts these plates for their other meaning would be more likely to be using them for ironic effect to defuse the power of their meaning, so it's hard to see who is going to be offended here? Not so offensive that the BBC won't report the spelling?

Are they really suggesting that a homophobe is likely to put them on his/her car with the intention of causing offence?

Why is it every time a numberplate thread gets posted, people think they have a valid excuse to bypass the forum swear filter.

I had a test drive in the a new Polo yesterday and while I quite liked it the Salesman said I had to make up my mind "like yesterday". Apparently there's a "16 week build schedule" and my ordered car, if it was one that wasn't already built, would need to be a "factory order" and that would take it beyond the end of the Scrappage Scheme.

He went onto mention that my order, if I put one in, would have to be in a certain colour that they knew was already en-route from the factory or he couldn't take my order. He might, "if he was lucky" be able to swap mine with another dealer somewhere.

Some of this sounded a bit iffy and I know this could be sales talk but has anyone heard similar things?

Thanks

So its off to the Ford garage for a new Fiesta!. 3 months+ is a
stupid length of time for a run of the mill motor like this.

Are they freely available now - when they came out they were extremely hard to get hold of, and apparenly Ford preferred to ship cars eleswhere due to strength of the Euro.

Maybe the ending of scrappage in Germany will flatten demand there so release more cars.

This is just hideous.

Hi

We have a 3 -series BMW engine (I think it is an E20). It refuses to start. We can hear it is firing on all but one cylinder. The petrol is going through the system. Can anyone pin point what I should test on this vehicle

Also, where can I obtain more information about this engine on the net?

Thanks Read more

The fuel injection fitted to this car is Bosch le -jetronic with a seperate electronic ignition module mounted on the bulkhead in engine bay and magnetic pulse Bosch disributor on l/h of engine. However one cylinder not firing will not cause the engine to not start.Do you have a good spark on all cyls?Injectors rarely give trouble ,even on an old girl like this.hth

Ford drivers are slobs - so says a report in the Telegraph today.

It also states that the worst offenders are in the South East (shurely shome mishtake?)

Like most on here, I either put it in a bin, or bag it to take home.

I well remember going to an out of the way beach in Corsica in about 84, and seeing the barbed wire fence along the trackside festooned with carrier bags containing the litter that the beach-goers had left to be collected - all summer, by the looks of things.

There is an intermittent fault with my 04 reg 2.4 Auto Honda Accord (85000 miles) which affects the power upon accelerating. It judders a few times then settles down. This only occurs on light throttle at low speeds, it like a misfire or a flat spot on acceleration. It tends to happen when the engine is warm and accelerating between 20 and 40 mph and is more noticeable in the rain.

I have read similar stories in the forum - but on diesel. Anyone have experience this and have a solution. The Honda garage will investigate but I have no reliable method of reproducing the issue.

Can anyone confirm the type of gearbox in the FR-V automatic, HJ's car by car breakdown says torque converter and its O.K, the Parkers review says it's an automated manual and avoid.

Are there any owners here to recommend or warn me off? This car seems to suit an automatic because of the seating layout and the tricky handbrake although I've only driven a manual so far.

Auto only available on the 1.8. BTW, FRV no longer manufactured. Presumably good discount negotiable, if a new one is in mind. Ditto 2nd hand I supppose....
