I'm generally pleased with this car but cannot believe how long it takes Nissan to source and supply parts.
Having waited 10 weeks for new shockers to be fitted I am now 6 weeks into a wait for replacement alloys.
I'm convinced that had I not made a fuss i would still be waiting for the shock absorbers until Christmas.
Is this typical? Read more
My 98 523i wont idle, when first started unless you keep blipping the throttle it just dies, when it gets warm it will sometimes keep running but sounds like its off a pot or 2. Could this be a classic case of idle control valve being stuck? There are no fault codes etc. Read more
On 1998 523i , 2.5 single vanos engine M52B25.
Ive put a new idle control valve and new cyclone valve in now and I still cannot get a good idle. It gets a bit juddery and occasionally 'pops' in the intake manifold. When cold it generally just stalls a lot, when warm it just ticks over but poorly as just described. So far Ive checked all pipes for splits / leaks, replaced the idle valve and the cyclone valve with new genuine BMW parts, put new spark plugs in and replaced the DME. Compression is spot on and within 5 psi of each other right across the board. As soon as the throttle is opened its sweet as a nut and pulls really well. What else could it be?
There are no fault codes to go off either.

I can't believe this. She should not get a suspended sentence for this, she should be in jail.

That is a VW concept car from 2002. It was called the "1 litre car" because it achieved a fuel consumption below 1litre/ 100km or 280mpg. It was initially considered for production then shelved due to high production costs. It's also not a single seater, it has 2 seats in tandem and resides at the VW museum in Wolfsburg.
In many cars I see a small cap of something on bumpers. What is this for?
I have uploaded an image here in case you wonder what I'm talking off.

they could call it a handbook or something like that!!
Is that so it could fit in a Handschuhfach rather than calling it a glovebook to fit in the glovebox ? :)
Hi, Hope someone can help? My clio has decided not to respond to the remote. I have changed the battery in the remote and tried the second key. Nothing, no response whatsoever. Its as if its switched frequency. I can get in the car with key, but cant start due to immobiliser. Any suggestions? Thanks Gary Read more
Hi I changed the battery in my key fob it worked perfectly for a week then suddenly the car decided not to start! I disconnected the battery and with some patience the car started usually on the third attempt but now the car just starts when it feels like it. Any ideas????? Help please
Would anyone by any chance know if an electric supercharger with an air filter and induction piping will enhance the performance of my Pug 206 2001 2.0HDI (Turbo Diesel) after I've already had it remapped from 90bhp to 120bhp? Thanks for your help.

"my understanding from other threads on this forum is that the reason the smaller Pugs were not available with the 2 litre 110, was lack of space for the intercooler?"
Don't know, but PSA thought it necessary to fit the 110 HDI engine with: Intercooler, variable vane turbo, uprated gearbox, uprated drive shafts, uprated brakes - at least. I think getting 140-150 horses out of what started out life as 90 BHP version with a few software tweaks is a bit of a pipe dream.....although 130-140 is reportedly possible out of the 110 version with a decent re-map.
If you wanna go that much faster, buy something witha bigger engine!
Apparently this is a common problem. I think thieves let the air out of the tyre and can then un-latch the cradle. I bought a mod from the dealer but haven't used it (didn't want to cut the carpet !).
What I did do was remove the spare wheel and replace it with the outside facing upwards (next to the boot floor) and the tyre valve pointing to the front of the car. I think someone would have to have extremely thin/long finger to pinch it now ... Read more

Is that a K-lok, as suggested by HJ in his Car-by-car breakdown?

After 3 years ownership the wipers collided after they moved on the spindles (my wife had been driving the car and not cleared the snow off off the roof !) I decided it was time to experiment and resolve the issue . I did have 2 x 24" wiper blades at the time. Note: I wouldn't recommend doing this if you have little experience mending cars, YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT !
This gave me an ideal opportunity to try out a fix for the annoying wiper layout which leaves a 2" area of un-wiped screen on the drivers side which in addition to the wide A pillar means you can miss seeing a whole car at some junctions (unless you move your head from side to side ;) ).
What I did was remove both wipers and bent the drivers side wiper in my Workmate (like a Citroen Picasso wiper arm, but not so severe) - Note that the arm has a twist in it which needs to remain so the wiper sits on the windscreen properly. I moved this round the spline until it swept the biggest area and fitted a 22" blade - On the vertical its about 1cm away and parallel to the "A" pillar. Once I was happy with this I then refitted the passenger wiper with a 24" blade. The right edge of the passenger wiper (looking from the front of the car) almost touches the driver wiper Unfortunately the other end of the passenger wiper doesn't lie flat, but does sweep right up to the "A" pillar and the blindspot is reduced (still that thick "A" pillar!) . There is no problem with the wipers hitting each other at all since I did the mod over 2 months ago
Before I started messing I got a spare set of arms from the scrappy (about £20) so if a made a hash of it nothing was lost

Have you notified your insurers of the modification?
Untrue - well certainly not as far as Primeras are concerned. They are known for going on and on and most died because their owners got bored with their reliability. My son's 2000W Primera has absolutely no rust on it at all.
