Apparently this is a common problem. I think thieves let the air out of the tyre and can then un-latch the cradle. I bought a mod from the dealer but haven't used it (didn't want to cut the carpet !).
What I did do was remove the spare wheel and replace it with the outside facing upwards (next to the boot floor) and the tyre valve pointing to the front of the car. I think someone would have to have extremely thin/long finger to pinch it now ...

Don't know if you have a suitable chassis point for similar to my security device.
Motorcycle security chain and very heavy duty padlock, chain through wheel spoke and over chassis rail.
A little voice tells me it would be prudent otherwise to tape a razor blade or two (in case you need one sometime) to the valve stem..;)

only possible draw back is that its a pain in the snip to check the tyre pressure which you all do weekly

Add one of these - drill hole in boot floor- and check inflate without getting your suit dirty!

Is that a K-lok, as suggested by HJ in his Car-by-car breakdown?
