Seems my C8 is not without faults. A few weeks ago, I noticed that when turning right or sometimes over very bumpy road, I get a creaking noise from what seems like the Passenger side Wheel Arch area.
Seeing as it's well within it's warranty period, I took into Citroen dealer, who gave me a technician for a road-test. I should have known better.
Needless to say, the car did not behave and it didn't make a SINGLE noise, despite a 30 minute road test around every bumpy right hand bend I could find. Talk about embarrassing.
Same afternoon, It was (and still is) making the noise. I did a google and only found a couple of items for other Citroens, particularly problems with Anti-roll bar fittings, and Power Steering Rack.
Anyone got any experience with this?
Thanks

In slowing moving stop/start traffic I sometimes put the car in neutral and let it roll down, using the foot brake and handbrake to stop and start. My left foot is rested and so not pressing the clutch. This is a lot easier than constantly engaging the clutch in 1st. Is this detrimental to the car or fuel economy in any way? Read more
Okay, here's how we clear the roads of idiots, whilst at the same time helping the economy.
The police have a month long, no excuses crackdown on the roads.
Unmarked cars patrol the streets and motorways for "Operation Death Race Armageddon".
Excessive speeding? Max points and max fine.
Mobile phone use? Max points and max fine.
No insurance/tax/MOT? As above.
Dodgy number plate? Ditto.
Driving without due care and attention/without consideration for other road users? I think you get the picture.
Firstly this will give a massive number of people something to think about. Who knows it might even encourage them to mend their ways.
Secondly it will keep the courts and all the associated people ticking over (the Post Office, Group 4, Prison Service etc.) - it might even create a few jobs. Some poeple might even lose their jobs, say a Range Rover Sport driver might get a ban and because he relies on his transport, he gets the sack. His job can be filled by some poor bloke who was recently made redundant. Maybe the sacked bloke and those like him can't pay his bills and debt collectors/bailiffs have to take on more people to cope with demand.
The possibilities are endless!
How can this possibly fail?

Help! My son has lost the micro-chipped key to his van, Vauxhall Arena 1997 2.5. Apparently (we understand..!?) the only way it can be programmed is if a garage (or someone) out there has a Tech One System for downloading the info onto the chip. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help or offer a suggestion (other than dumping the Van!?!). I'm saddled with the darned problem as my lad's gone white-water rafting in British Columbia - and left me with it! Not only that but the great thing is taking up the whole driveway in his mum's (my ex's!) house, so I'm getting the aggro! (PS: I know it's not a car fellas but I'm sure that can be arranged with some reductionist therapy!) {snip - I'm sure you didn't really mean to post your phone number for the world to see?}
Thanks, David davidwoollacott 'at' tiscali.co.uk

You may be better off at a Renault dealer as this vehicle is a rebadged Traffic. Are you sure it has a chipped key ?It may be a border-line case of yes or no.hth
My wife was driving my daughter's nice little Clio 1.8 rollerskate into town yesterday when the clutch cable parted in Holland Park Avenue. She was in the middle of the road in the process of waiting to turn right. I was half an hour away across town, but some nice passing plod helped push the car out of the way and I wouldn't have been as much use as the AA man, who fixed the break - close to the clutch fortunately - with a proprietary bodge he had in his van. He said it might not last, and that there might be a clutch problem causing strain on the cable (only 5000 miles old).
Today my man down the back put in a proper new cable. 45 quid including parts. He said the clutch did feel a bit heavy but he didn't have time to do that now. A bit of an awkward job, he said. Bring it back a bit later when he has the time.
My guess is that they will ask him to look at it. He said he would have to work out a price. We all know it won't be excessive and the work will be impeccable.

pimp my ride to give it a makeover
It's an idea bb. I'd quite like to see one in shocking pink with huge rear wheels and buttoned gold skunkskin upholstery... What would they do about the engine though? Secondhand Lancia V6 rally car rear end perhaps... but I don't think so somehow. They aren't engine people. They're pimps.
I'm looking for a long-term addition for my shoestring charity fleet, I have a maximum budget of £6000 and it has to be diesel. The car will be used as a workhorse, covering 30k miles per year until it's dead.
Any suggestions welcome, at the moment I'm thinking of a Skoda Octavia ( but not a former taxi hack!) or a Focus estate.
Reliability and longetivity are more important to us than looks or performance.
Cheers! Read more
I'd recommend a Ford Focus estate, we have one, it's super to drive, functional and easy on fuel. 30k miles per year would require 2 services per year every 12500 miles. Insurance costs are low. You'll get a good one for £6k. The 1.6 TDCi 109ps can handle a full load with no problems and is good on fuel economy, 64 mpg on long journeys. The 1.8 TDCi is also good but uses slightly more fuel but is pretty economical on long journeys 60+ mpg, less mpg when/if they are hammered.
Whatever you decide to buy check out the long term servicing costs as they can vary a lot from car to car and consequently impact on running costs.
I'm looking for help on how to change out the Drivers Side LED Type Repeater situated on the DS Mirror. Read more
Tilt the mirror glass down as far as it will go with the interior switch.
Get a flat blade behind the glass (there is a special VW tool of course) & carefully leever it off. Disconnect the wires to the heating element.
Leever off the black plastic surround & the painted surround, a press fit.
Remove the mirror tilting mechanism, 3 screws.
You will see 2 screws in line with the clear plastic indicator lense inside the mirror casing.
Remove these & prise out the indicator repeater lense, disconnect the plug.
A new one from VW is just over £18.
HTH.
say the signs coming up to roadworks at Hindhead on the A3, so why doesn't anybody use both lanes?
Is it British reserve that causes a massive single lane que for hundred of meters before the lanes merge ?

hi
I have a vectra 2000 Model 1.6 engine Z16XE. Done only 70K
I just bought the car and its ECU light started coming on. I have noticed that whenever this happens the care starts to miss at constant foot pressure (accelerator). It?s better at high revs and higher speeds.
The Code retrieved is P0400 EGR valve redistribution.
The EGR Valve has been changed and also the EXHAUST Manifold has been changed (£300.00) as it & Cat both were having a crack.
I have got the car serviced (oil and air filter changed) by paying £150.00.
Don?t know what else I should do . Don?t want to go to VAUXHALL due to huge Bills:-(
The light Goes off sometimes or Stays on. Either case not a very very smooth drive.
Pls Help
