Nice to see the Sun's high standard of journalism as usual. I feel they should offer a public aplology to all Micra drivers for getting the two mixed up!

I am not quite sure how this would have happened why didn't she just brake?

Neighbour's son was given a Fiesta as his Gran has decided not to drive any more and he needs transport for Uni.

Neighbour - "Free car and she taxed it for 6 month!" - " I'll have to get the insurance sorted!"

I said he would have been better buying a car and getting his Gran to buy Insurance!

He had thought he'd get the laddie insured for £500 -Dream on I said - probably £1200+.............

The neighbour paused for thought/breath.........How much?

Anyone know of any brokers offering cover for under £1000? - 1.4 Fiesta/18 yr old soon to be student. Read more

Just a thought,, If Gran can afford to give him her car she could probably pop for the insurance as well.

Is there an easy way to determine if its the electronics or the motor? In addition I assume its not possible to remove the nsf and use it instead? Read more

Im surprised if its the motor
Nifty little trick try the window with the door open in different positions to rule out the wiring in the rubber gromit
The door card comes off very easily on these by the way,it looks complicated but wasnt when i had to swap a mirror on mine

On turning the ignition on I get the three beeps and the oil level light shows all --------
The Oil level is correct, there is no STOP warning light and the engine runs fine.
I used to get this happening intermittently without the beeps, this is now happening all the time and all I have done is to have a new battery fitted in the last week.
Does this sound like a sensor issue ?

Thanks
Mike

Thanks everyone for the prompt replies.
I tried it tonight and it was working fine again, yes I would like to know what the disconnect/reconnect procedure is, that would be useful to know.
I had the battery fitted by a Kwik Fit Fitter so any damage will be down to them.

Anyone watch the BBC series "George Gently" with Martin Shaw?

I noticed last time it was shown and 'tis true this series too, all the 60's vehicles featured have their Road Fund Tax Discs on the offside.

Now either they have a vehicle advisor with a poor knowledge / mental block or the production team are having a laugh.

hi everyone, i have just had an expensive recovery of my 110 station wagon, with what appears to be fuel delivery problem, the engine ticks over fine, and was driving ok, apart from a slight overrun on revs when i lifted off the gass, then when put under load ie, joining the a1, the power seemed to diminish, then appear again, then ground to a halt, but crucially, started again, and ticked over fine, with the odd fluctuation in engine revs , however would not perform under load. turbo or fuel????? please help!!!!!! 1989 sorry!!! anyway sorted the problem, a loose union on the side of the filter seemed to have let air in, replaced filter and olive, running fine.

cheers anyway .

Hello All,
I am just about to purchase the above car and would like to hear some 'real' owners feedback. I have read many reviews and the biggest negative i read is regarding road and wind noise. This car has done 22k miles and the dealer has priced it at £5500. I have never owned a focus before and this will be the newest car i have ever bought so i would love to hear some feedback please.
many thanks in advance.

> There is however another 1.6 engine available with 115 PS - its slightly pepier and more economical

Has Ford phased out the 115BHP version of the 1.6 with the facelifted Focus? Can't seem to see any of the more powerful version available now, but it may be that dealers aren't distinguishing between the two in their advertising.

Car has done 27,000 miles. I have been experiencing quite severe flat spots at mid range revs. initially thought it was dirty fuel but two tank fulls on the problem is still there. I have changed plugs, coil pack & air filter. I understand there is no fuel filter. Engine idles normally & symptoms appear after several miles(around 20 to 30). not keen on going to local Ford dealer as they charge the earth. Next step is to change plug leads. Any suggestions please. I do not have trouble with water round plugs as experienced by some owners.

Pity there is no Haynes manual yet. Read more

I finally seemed to have cured the problem by replacing plug leads & driving the car harder by7 using a few more revs.

Difficult to tell which cured the problem but car has been fine for past 3 weeks.

For the 2nd time, my Picasso is heading for the main dealer to have the EGS gear box put right. Feels like "clutch slip" that ends in neck snapping jerk as cog fairy finally bites. This happens in all gears. Couple of times it has just revved as I accelerated, no traction from the box at all.

1st time this happened (6mths ago) the garage told me that they downloaded new software. It seemed to cure it I expect the same will happen again.

Car is 18mths old, done 14k miles, and it is a worrying sign that the electronics/computers etc are not up to the job.

I think the car is destined for autotrader! Read more

Yes, it sounds like the gear change/clutch settings need to be re-set.

One of the ideas behind automated manuals is that they are easier on the clutch, so I doubt this is the problem (although I did have premature failure of a clutch on a manual '02 Xsara Picasso a few years back - it started to slip after 6 months and was replaced FOC under warranty. I think they had a run of them down to poor clutches).

I never had any problems with the EGS on the C4 Coupe that I ran for a year.
